I'm fighting a romulan D'derix.
it's hull is at 9%.
I try to run away before it explodes.
it looks like I have a chance....

but suddenly I get thrown backwards and killed.
this problem mostly occurs when activating and disengaging full impulse

    It's a phenomenon called rubberbanding. It's usually a result of server/client lag.

Should get better as time goes on and they optimize the software and hardware.

How could you possibly be activating max impulse in the time between finishing off a ship and it exploding?

You're rubberbanding alright, and you're causing it . That button is disabled in combat but your client is appearently slow on the uptake, so it starts to show you making spacetracks out of there, and then the server calls BS and puts you back where you belong. Woomff!

rubberbanding happens in any online game, the degree varies. i cant walk around sol starbase in anything resembling a straight line, but my space flight is usually fine. every now and again you get yanked backwards, which can be annoying if you have just destroyed something big and you are flying a science vessel (theres goes most of my crew)
