upgrading lower tier ships at endgame

So my idea of having something to do endgame that would be fun and create some diversity in what ships you see later on also.

Right now once you level up you don’t really want to go to your starter ships for anything outside of giggles. What I’d like to see is a way to able to upgrade your older ships once you hit 50. Basically you get missions that give you some type of badges that you can spend on upgrading your older ship the lower the tier the more you could upgrade it. so let say you really liked that tier 2 cruiser you could upgrade the assignment slots not so much add more but make it so that 2-3 of them could take commanders also maybe upgrade the power output add 1-2 more weapons slots and 2-3 more consoles.

It would be nice to see the early tier ships still be something somebody might bring around to end game encounter and still be able to really put up a fight. It would just be a different kinda of fight since their skills will be more diversified having more bo power possible and having ships with different stats. Again as an example the tier 2 cruiser is more maneuverable but it can’t take the pounding and mount as many guns as a tier 4-5.

The other advantage is with a system like this if you liked a particular ship you could stick with it rather then have to accept it’s just not up to the task of its replacements. For me I really like the nova and would like to be able to fly that around again later. Other may really want to fly around in the defiant at end game or the galaxy. There are a lot of other things that could be done with this and it would require balancing but it allows a lot of customization and basically its offers a way to play the ships we want while also giving some something to keep doing once we hit 50.

It’s even something they did in the shows how many times did you see admirals charge into a battle sitting in a old rust bucket that within minutes became his coffin because old admiral buggy really loved that old excelsior he first served on and nobody was willing to tell him it was a bad idea or take it as a hint that he was suicidal. See with a system like this we could play crazy old admirals that aren’t suicidal just yet but willing to spend a small fortune gutting a decrepit old ship and converting into something viable all be it possible soulless.

Kirk sure seemed to love the original enterprise. Yeah i agree, something like this should be put in if nothing so we aren't all flying around in the same 3 ships in 3 months or so.

Actually it would be 6. Admiral get the 3 classes but each class has 2 sub-class so to speak.
