One Uniform is Missing

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
One uniform imo is missing from the game that would really add to it as well as relating it to the TV series and thats the "future uniform" .

You could call it the alternate uniform but it appear in the final episodes of The Next Generation and Voyager as well as in an episode of DS9, if you do not know which one i am on about here's a link - http://tinyurl.com/ylgr3je

I personally think that if its in all three of the future alternate timelines then it should be in ours, in the voyager episode it was in the actual "real" time line until Janeway messed that up.

I like the uniform and i think it would look nice ingame.

I like them, they look like a more genunine advance from the "present" uniform it kind of reminds me of the original uniform to what with the full colour but it has a modern twist on it.

Nope. Ugly as all get out. Whoever came up with that design for a "future" uniform does not have a great sense of what the future would look like.

More canon uniforms are always good. It beats the hell out of the biker leathers you get as standard sets  Still waiting for the other TNG uniform sets as well.

I just tried to make that futuristic uniform, it kind of looks like it i used the TNG series uniform and instead of making the shoulders black i made them the same colour as the torso. I had to use the TNG movie though as you know that badge isn't in. I also had to make do with the rank pips being on the colour instead of the chest. but for the most part it looks very simliar.

I never liked those uniforms very much. They seemed like a downgrade from the direction they were going in TNG. And they felt especially out of place after the more militaristic uniforms of DS9 and the TNG movies.

Its worth noting that uniform only ever appeared in alternate possible timelines and never the one that ended up being "real". Its never appeared in the canon timline. Ergo we don't need it.

It appeared in the Anti-time future created by Q, along with a modified Enterprise D- alternate timeline, not prime.
It appeared in the alternate future of "The Visitor" when Sisko got stuck in time, which ceased to be when the problem was resolved by Jake. - Alternate timeline, not prime.
It appeared in Endgame, worn by Janeway and future feds. This timeline ceased to be when Janeway went back and altered it by giving tech to voyager. - Alternate timeline, not prime.

This uniform never once showed up in a timeline that was not altered in the same episode it appeared in. In fact, the presence of that uniform is the easiest indication that something is "wrong" in the episode which will get fixed by the end.

Honestly, I dont like it either. But whether you like it or I like has NOTHING to do with whether the people who DO like it should be able to wear it if you want to. The OP didnt ask did you like it, he asked for it to be in game. Your opinion of how it looks is irrelevant to that request.

Well the fact it appears in every "alternate" time line would suggest it would of ended up being used no matter what happened, i mean i said before it appear in the "original" canon time line when voyager returned home 10 years later, but that was changed when janeway converted that time line into alternate and made the alternate the canon timeline if you understand what i mean.

Either way i don't think its especially awesome, i just like the uniqueness of it, i actually do like the change in badge design however.

Nothing actually went wrong in the Voyager time line though and yet it still appeared. So technicly thats how the uniform should of ended up becoming, either way we don't know how the uniform changed after the voyager time line, nemesis was set just after it had finished so wasn't given enough time.

Star Trek Online is set in 2409 the "alternate" future costume came into being between 2390s-2420s according to Memory Alpha, so imo i think the uniform should at least be an option.

Yeah thats one of the reason i like them, its cause they keep with the general traditional of Starfleet uniforms, they are like a cross between the traditional uniforms and the modern uniforms.

People's opinion of how it looks is completely relevant. I think they're ugly, and I don't want them devoting artist resources to making them, I'd rather they worked on something else.

Well i don't see you complaining about everyone wanting skirts etc put in game, they are taking time out to sort that out. This costume isn't that difficult to do, its just a slight alteration to the TNG series uniform, already shown how close it is to it already.

But I like skirts on women! See there's this concept of subjective opinions, and my subjective opinion is that they should devote time to fixing the skirts(especially since they were promised), but putting in the ugly(again, in my opinion) future uniforms would be a waste of time.

Not saying options are bad, but if they're going to expand the uniform selection, I'm going to give my opinion on which ones they should add.

There's actually a lot of uniforms missing. Uniforms from the Enterprise show, including one of the best Mirror Universe outfits that T'Pal wore. The uniforms from the newest Star Trek Movie would be nice too.

Of course, we are still waiting for the female Mirror Universe uniforms that we CO Lifetimers paid for 6 months ago. So if they add anything new, those better be next, since they gave the MU Boots as the STO female set and not the boots they were supposed to get.

While I never cared for them personally, I'm definitely for adding them to the game. More canon options are always a plus in my book, as someone mentioned earlier, the leather gear that Cryptic came up with gets a bit tired.

and gets so hot, god before Starfleet command gave me the go ahead to use the uniforms that were in the store of my ship they were waring those horrible things and my poor medic had so many cases of heat stroke when we would return from a tropical world!

    lolrolelplay.

Anyway the more costumes the better. I would love to have them, even if I wouldn't always use them. Having the option is always great.

I personally would also want more costume slots for our characters. 2 doesn't seem enough. Althouth I mocked the roleplayers just now, it would be nice (especially for them) to be able to switch between standard uniforms, diplomatic dress wear, combat gear and uniforms for harsh environments.

Right now I switch between the TNG Movie costume (As the combadge doesn't show work for the DS9 ones) and the original TNG (season 3+) ones.

Those uniforms for fracking HIDIOUS! I remember watching that episode and just hating those uniforms intensly. Of all the uniforms to skip they wisely chose this one.

They are more in keeping than the leather options atm and close enough to the original uniforms to be a step forward in the design departement.

I think, if you want to have it in game, then why the hell not. but... I also think they should make other Uniforms available people like the TOS uniforms, or stuff like that... not just in pre order item... just my two cents

This is one of several uniforms they need to add (definitely need that badge, as I love it). We also need the standard uniform from Enterprise, the MACO unifrom, and that ugly getup from the Motion Picture for the roleplayers.
