Where is Off Topic then?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Seeing that the topic that was off topic is now closed because it was off topic, where do the Off Topis types officially go? Ten forward is a "Introduce yourself, share fan art, fan fiction, role play" area assimungly a RP area (dont let that fool you though, if you try it even there you'll get flamed back out again. Its a MMOG not a mmoRPG after all). The off topic area seems to have vanished, and the moderator that closed it meresly said talk about STO, and didnt give a location to take off topic stuff TO. Id LIKE to see a Off Topic area, so they dont post here, or in Ten Forward.

By the way, wouldnt it have been more productive to move the thread where youd rather have it rather than locking it outright?

I do not think there is a general (non STO, non ST, etc) forum.

Well then how are they expecting people to not post the wrong (IE Off Topic) stuff in the wrong forum when there is no "right" forum >.<

Well, if you are just chatting with people, try Ten Forward.

I think it is intended for everyone to get to know one another.

there is no outright off topic thread. the ten forward thread is not labled as such, it carreis largely sto related stuff as well.

The off-topic is pretty much all the conversations inside the game.

Perhaps then this is a clue that these forums are for Star Trek Online, and off-topic subjects should be taken off-site?

    Just a thought.

They didn't create an off-topic forum because they don't want to promote off-topic conversation at this site.

    Sad, but true.

Why is that sad? What comes of promoting off-topic conversation other than a thousand blathering threads, full of rage and leet speak, signifying nothing? That still have to be modded...

The best 'off topic' forums tend to be your Facebook, personal blog comment section, guild forums, gaming fansites, grocery lists, Steam/IM programs, IRC, or if your rage and insight is in short form, Twitter.

Really, how many OT outlets does one need?

I was thinking the same thing...

Dianoea... whatever her...??? name is. She's got a itchy trigger finger. She...?? doesn't know how to move a thread. She only knows how to close them and demerit you...

I'm waiting for mine now, cause it's against the rules to discuss moderation.... lol...

THE POINT IS, moderators, WE NEED and Off Topic Thread. And move our stuff, quit closing them.

No, WE dont NEED an off topic Forum. This is Star Trek Online, and not Star Trek, the offtopic Forum Community.

And please, dont refer to yourself as WE. You are not talking for me.

Well in eves off topic forum (out of pod Experience) people are stoked about the new room that has been added to the ISS. Why? because its called Tranquility!

Along with other important things such as is this a dramiel? and whats better, waffles or pancakes?, game reveiws, rugby, American hand egg finals and the most popular best beer, a topic full of CCP staff.

Interesting question: why is it the mail system seems up; I can see my messages, read them, etc, but when I hit "send a PM to GM" it sends me to a "the mail service is down" page?

Off Topic is very common to the Forum world.

You don't have to post there.

We are a "community" of STO players, and maybe we want to discuss off topics subjects with our "peers."

This is not an unusual request.

"WE", yes, that is correct, when read in CONTEXT. Again, that is something Moderators lack, the ability to read in context.

Your firewall is blocking it. drop the firewall for a sec and then you can access your mail.

The mail system cuts on and off on a regular basis. It's something the devs really need to look into. That and giving us back the off-topic forum.
