Hello,
I am going to show my age here but before MMORPG's existed we had role playing games like D&D. The adventure existed in little more than a few bits of paper, some dice and our own worlds created in our heads. Time has moved on from then as the drift moved towards computer games the focus remained the same to capture that early method in a visual form.
It gave birth to the early MMORPG's a bold gamble trying to create almost open ended worlds in which 1,000 of people can play and exist in the same world. The market changed over time given us a better environment in which to exist each time the paper and dice have been replaced.
However the world that exists in side our head is still require. The game needs a leap of dreams to seperate yourself from the game to assume the role of say a star ship captain. The MMORPG still cannot do everything you have to idea it is more than a game.
The point is like anything I suppose you will only get out of the game what you put in. If all you put in are negative views looking to find fault at very step that is all your will find. If you look to rush through the game to get to the end then that is all you will find is the end.
STO like most MMORPGS just creates the world what you do with it is your choice you are limit often not by the game code but your ability to use it in a manner you find fun.
I think today with the spoon fed world people have stopped the creative spark expecting the game to do it all for them. Their is so much of the world than can be made with just a little more thought.
