ive been trying to figure this out for hours now. im not running thru a router. my firewall is down and norton is unistalled. all i get is trying to update the launcher please be patient in the little box. ive tried reinstalling multiple times. after this last reinstall im not even getting the number of failed attempts anymore. my friend is playing just find in the building right next to me. my computer is powerful enough to run the game. ive created an account. ive started a subscription. nettest does not work for me all i get is that it timed out and hit return to close. but ive tried a few other things having me test me connection to the cryptic servers and i passed them i was a little slow. every thread ive looked at had people running at about 114 i was at about 200 and i figure its cause im on a base in japan. my computer has never had any problems running any other game including champions online. i purchased the game and did a regular install. something is stopping me from getting the update. is there something else i can try besides sitting on hold with tech support for a hour +?
run http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe and post the results. This is just to see if you have connection issues to the servers.
If you get no response for it, try running it as admin. If theres still no response, then something, either on your system or with your isp is blocking the connection.
ive seen the fix for your problem i wish i had that one you have to download this thing that brings the launcher back up. try looking in the other forums for the link its called ShowLauncherWindows. try this i think its this one http://files.champions-online.com/ShowLauncherWindows.exe
i dont get anything from the nettest but when i go into run, cmd, and i ping the patch servers it comes back good just not getting a good connection with nettest
ok so the fact that im pinging the servers correctly is irrelavant if nettest isnt working is what your saying?
ping/tracert and nettest are all totall different.
The point being if you can connect via nettest then you should be able to connect to the servers. If nettest is blocked, you wont be able to. Even if you have a 20 ms connection via ping.
minus calling my isp what else can i check. i have placed every program under allow and also turned off my firewall. norton has been deleted and gone. im not on a router but under my firewall i even inserted all the ports people have listed. idk if that helps at all but to computer smart so ive run out of ideas.
I have been having the smae issue. I click on the desktop icon and the pleast wait message thing pops up, nothing happenes then a message says " Oops! Your Cryptic Application has crashed" why would it crash i just updated my video drivers. I have uninstalled and installed the game a few times. None of these things have helpped. I have Norton 360 in my computer.I wonder if that has soething to do with it, but i have turned of the firewall but still same crash happeneds
I had this problem. I installed it on a different computer in my house and it works fine. My internet explorer doesnt connect, which I guess is what the problem was, but the computer it runs on doesnt even have IE so I dunno.
I noticed that if my computer went into standby i would come back and there would be an error waiting for me saying connection was terminated so I don't know what the real situation is, it appears to be able to connect but won't move any bits. Either way I blame Cryptic and am canceling my subscription because its a horrible game so don't feel like you're missing out.

Looks like your first post on the forums, can you post up some more details on what you are encountering what what you have already tried?
My launcher doesn't update, patching is slow, hangs, game hangs connecting, etc

Take a look at my second post in the thread about launcher problems, see if any of those help you.
