For 20 bucks you get all the expansions and a great community and alot of loot, instances and raids. Plus they added skirmishes which is like an instance you can call at anytime and can do in solo, 3 man, 5 man and raid mode. Plus of course we have PVMP. Same thing as PVP just with monsters on one side. Lots of reputations to work on and the greatest epic storylines I have seen in an MMO. Plus we have housing and crafting and they have fixed this game since it launched a couple years ago and I would say it is just as good a MMO out there.
So come check it out and see what you think if you dont like it no biggie but get to level 20 and your hooked ;)

This probably isn't a good idea. But... I agree with every single word of it.

I loved Lotro and had agreat Kin, but I got really bored of it after a time. I may go back after the next expansion though, just to see what it's all about. With all that said, it's a bit rude to be blatantly advertising an mmo on another mmo's website.

Just checked out Star Wars Galaxies for the first time. It is deffinitely lacking the polish that STO has now. But has way more depth than this game will even have a year from now, or ever at the rate it has gone.

streaker, you've only experienced the dumbed down version of SWG that is left after SOE took a chainsaw and removed all that was good from the game. all SWG is now is a cheap and nasty WOW wannabe. its only redeeming feature was the outstanding roleplay community that actually made the game reasonable fun to play and bypassed all the poor content that SOE in its infinite wisdom thought would be fun which it wasnt.

Sounds better then having to grind the same defend sector mission when you run out of content. Too bad there wasn't anything to fall back on beside the grind, WoW offered things like that. What a great game that is.

I know, on one hand I did miss out on that and the whole NGE thing, but I also get to skip all the talk about that and get to the good stuff! But I can tell right now, SWG wont keep me either, no biggie as there are tons of other games and a few MMOs to still give a shot. I still stand by my SWG having more depth comment, even with what little I've seen of the game.

if you rushed through the game thats not cryptics fault. besides the game is only a week or so old geez. more content will be added as time progresses. i'm not being a fanboi i'm just stating the natural progression of MMO from years of experience of playing MMO's.

as far as depth of content goes, the RP community events on the server i used to play on (chimera EU) was outstanding but as far as SOE created content it was pretty much your generic kill x number of mobs came back or fedex missions whic got real old real fast. if RP floats your boat the give SWG a try, but if you want a decent choice of MMO give SWG a wide berth. but again i'm not trying to force you into going one way or another just going from experience of the game.

i'd love to see more sci-fi MMO's based on big sci fi franchises ( stagate worlds (cancelled) and i would love to see a babylon 5 MMO but the likelihood of those happening are slim to none. might give jumpgate evolution a go when it finally arrives but other that that SCIFI MMO's are pretty slim pickings these days

wow is just a quest grind to max level peppered with gathering grinds and dungeon crawls, then a rep/badge grind until you're geared up to raid then a raid grind to get geared up for the next dungeon over and over again. or you can grind BGs for a few weeks to gear up so you can grind arenas.

All you've actually missed is the superiority complex that pre-NGE players have, and the need to constantly whine about how it was 'so much better' that goes hand in hand with it.

In actual fact, pre-NGE sucked balls, and it's a much better game now. I played for a month at launch, and didn't go back until a few years later and still playing was until recently, but it was the constant lag that put me off the game, not anything to do with actual gameplay.

I left SWG (among others) in playing STO. I disagree. The only things SWG has over STO at this point is robust crafting through a dedicated noncombat crafting vocation and player housing. Is that a substantial difference? Maybe. Are those two things coming to STO? Yeah, I'm guessing so.

SWG has had no real content added in years. There have been little content things here and there but they are always lacking, they are not what the players ask for but are presented as such, the card game is worse than the c-store and all I see in SWG any more is the lack of pre NGE/CU content. STO is more like the pre NGE/CU SWG in the best ways.

For now, I play STO, CO, and SWGemu and I am satisfied. Yes, it takes 3 MMOs to give me what I am lookng for. STO may become the 1 that satisfies me with the right direction. New SWG, it's just not there.

For the record... SWG is the DEFFINITION of grind. It is as bad, if not worse than WoW.

I'm sure this is better than killing five or this or scanning five of that over and over.

I played LotRO when it first came out and it was decent, but I didn't have the money to pay for it. I'm considering looking back into it now that I've hit Admiral on STO. I've got nothing to do now aside from PvP.

It's really just the same type of approach just reskinned.

In LOTRO you will get a quest to kill 10 goblins/orcs/wraiths etc. After killing said goblins you then get a quest to kill the goblin boss. After killing the goblin boss you get a better than average reward.

You also the quests to collect five banners(ie scan five rocks) and so on.

I've not played any MMO which breaks the kill X mobs or collect X materials formula. It's the in ST:O but is more pronounced because of the space maps and sector travel.

Most if not all endgame in MMOs is running the same instances everyday, killing the same boss every with the same stratergy that everyone else uses. It's rince, wash and repeat.

So LOTRO, ST:O or whichever other game aren't really differnt it's that fantasy MMOs are based on large land masses while ST:O has both land and space.

People who complain about repetition in ST:O should complain about it in MMOs in general.

Agreed. Grinding is inescapable in MMOs. I just wish STO had more variety. Don't get me wrong, I really like the game, but...

Well, I've got nothing left to do at Admiral.

At RA5 myself and I'm gearing up my BO's and leveling some for PvP. I have BOs that I only use PvE. Then there is getting them Borg space gear and upgrading my own gear.

On top of that I'm also leveling my Klingon and so on.

The first "raid-i-sode" is due out soon and their repeatable so the content is the way. The players know endgame is needed, Cryptic know endgame is needed but not everything can be achieved at once.

If not then they'll struggle to keep players beyond the 45 days and I'm sure their aware of it.

And for those of you who played LOTRO when it first came out it is 10 times better now and they have added so much content it is amazing. I was one of those world tour players and dumped the game then I came back about 6 months ago and they have added so much I think anyone willing to give at least the free trial a whirl they would be really surprised and if anyone needs help I am on firefoot and under the mylotro i am harleyred
