A Few things that need some Love..

First off this is meant as constructive, so anyone who has nothing constructive to say/suggest in response..take your trolling or flaming elsewhere..

I've been in STO since pretty early in the closed beta so I've already seen the game go through a lot of changes.. however there are some things that remain that need some love,or redoing... to that end I would like to highlight them, note the issue as I see it and leave the floor open to suggested fixes/changes.

1. DEEP SPACE ENCOUNTERS:
Originally these did not ambush you, sure they flew up to you but the choice to enter was always ours.. Some may say but yeah dude you can always exit.. this is true, but sometimes we may be afk, or typing, or spending skill points or sorting our inventories or any number of other things.. to suddenyl have those windows closed and be dumped into an instant firefight (as DSE spawn points are not enemy free) is pretty annoying.

Indeed EVERYONE I have spoken to about this pretty much says the same, they hate the ambushing of DSE's on secotr maps.

2. ENTITIES
things like the Crystal Entity etc.. as fixed locale Fleet actions pretty much bores me, they have been trivialised and made generic. When entitites and oddities like this show up it should be randon as to where and when and when it happens imo there should be a GLOBAL announcement that says "TRIBBLE has been sighted in TRIBBLE Sector, a general distress call has been recieved requesting immediate assitance". or something to that effect, then those interest can go racing to the locale, join the battle and have a sense of achievement as though an EVENT had just happened.

There are many such entities in the Trek verse.. and they should always imo be EVENTs, not generic fleet actions. It isnt main plot story integral, so there is no real reason why it should be in one fixed place.

3. GENESIS MISSIONS
couple of issues with these, firstly where are the first contacts, and the peaceful negotiation and diplomacy based genesis missions? they are almost all scan this or kill this and then scan this.. or talk to a guy and then kill 4 waves of whatever.. not a whole lot of variation and majoritively combat aggression oriented.

Secondly the Aid missions, im sorry these just blow as they currently stand.. they boil down to cash for xp as essentially were being sent to provide aid and then being expected to buy what they want.. im sorry but if the Federation sends me to some alien world to provide aid they damn well better provide me the medicines.

Imo aid missions should be more along the lines of "timed" you reach the planet they tell you what the crisis is and what they need, you head back to sol base or the nearest federation station, collect what they need without paying for it ourselves.. and then head back to the planet before the timer runs out and crisis is unavoidable. If we make it, crisis is averted and reward is given, if we dont no reward..try again, different mission. As they stand most folks like myself just exit and retry for a different mission when Aid Relief comes up because noone wants to pay for the commodities they want.. contrary to popular belief energy credits arent so abundant we can afford to be so generous with them.

4. BRIDGE OFFICERS (and Captains in Part)
I dare say they will show up eventually but where are the Androids and the Holograms? C Store additions down the line?

also with Alien BO's when we customise them PLEASE allow us to edit the race field and given them a Species name of our choosing. Its one thing to list BO's for sale and reward as alien but once we make them active crew we should be able to give name to thier species. And that goes for custom Alien Captains too.

5. KLINGONS
I know its coming but I cannot emphasise enough how much you guys screwed the p**ch by not including an equal PVE experience for Klingons and you guys know it, there were many many pages of threads on the closed beta forums and the open forums about it. As far as Klingons go, you sold us short.. this needs rectifying asap.

6. TAILOR ISSUES
where are the orion female clothing options? we have a choice of klingon armor or klingon armor, which is fairly annoying when every other female orion in the game is wearing what female orions wear. There some ESRB issue with allowing us the bikins and headdresses too or did you just think we wouldnt notice?

also why are skirs limited to only the Original Trek uniforms? what about female mirror universe costumes?

also Klingon Long Coats, I know there in as I see plenty of NPC's with them, do we get them? are they a rank thing like Sashs?

7. KLINGON SHIP CUSTOMISATIONS
I cannot help but frown when I think of this, but in closed beta the ships had customisations, we had a few variant models of the raptors and birds of prey etc to choose from.. then suddenly these customisation choices turned up as the higher tier variants of the bops and raptors instead.. leaving klingons with NO ship customisation choices beyond color and markings..this is bad. You guys are know for your customisation skills, leaving the Klingons dry like this.. not good, not good at all.

8. RUNABOUT OVERPRICED
sorry I know its cool, but this little Lt ship is WAAAAAAAY overpriced 143,000 energy credits for an lt ship that isnt even as good or have as many slots as the starter ship. for the same price you can buy any other Tier 3 ship. As the runabout is an Lt ship and therefore a tier 0 or 1 ship not 3 it should be priced accordingly.

9. LIBERATED BORG
I can only imagine that it must have been some art related model concern but in all honesty I find it hard to see why you made them a "race" as opposed to a set of unlockable traits and costume options that could be applied to ANY race. Because well lets face it the borg arent one species they are every species they have assimilated..so adding borg traits to a human or an andorian or a klingon etc..makes WAY more sense than saying, they are thier own species. It seems like a "rushed" decisions rather than a considered one based on what we know from the IP.

also with regard to the Preorder Liberated Borg Birdge Officers, why all female and why all Engineers? some gender and specialisation choice would have been GREATLY appreciated.

10. BRDIGES
Firstly although on Klingon bridges you have now replaced the Federation randoms with klingons that appear there, we STILL do not see out own bridge officers on our bridges like we do federation side.

Also the Captains chair, to actually sit in it, depending on what your captains stance is, can be a hellish job, can we please have the cpatains chair be made an INTERACTABLE, so we click on it and it automatically sits us in it. As opposed to having to jump up on the edge of the thing if we can get us to fit and then clicking the emote.

11. SHIPS
This is a biggie.. but the ships for each tier have been way to generalised, we've essentially been given three entirely separate class and capability diverse models of vessel and had them reduce to simple Aesthetic differences only. Its like the Dummies Guide style of approach...

for me the ships should be individual and with merits and flaws of thier own, it was one of the things EVe got very right, every ship model had a role and capability that was different to the next, and then within those individual ships thier were variants that varied it even further. But with STO it is as I say very much a simplistic approach, any of the tier 1 science ships is the same as any other tier one science ship, each model is exactly the same in every way except appearance, no individual role bonuses or specialisties for each model that would add a massive amount of diversity and complexity to this game in a welcomed way. and its a real shame.

Next issue with ships autofiring, only one weapon in the frotn and one in the rear? seriously??? autofiring should be expanded to allow all energy weapons to be set to autofire in an arc or all kinetic weapons. So you couldnt set everything to autofire but you could AT LEAST set all your beams, cannons etc.. to autofire so you can focus on manoeuvring and power use where the real tactical element of the game comes into play and not button mashing the spacebar like a lunatic playing some RSI inducing sports game from the 80's.

12.CRAFTING
again crafting in STO is way to dull and dimplistic, skill has nothign to do with it, it is just a simple resource grind, make X amount of items to be able to move to the next craft guy, make X amount of new item and then rince and repeat.. plus the items we can make are fairly lack lustre in variety and nature. No chance to make something critted, no real ability to affect the crafted outcome at all.

Its sandwhich making for pre schoolers.. and as someone who loves crafting..it leaves me wanting more and better from crafting in STO.

and there you have it, my list of issue that need some love.. I open the floor for comments, additional things you think need some love, or other suggested fixes for the things I mention.

I'd've said 'the whole game' but that's just me <LOL>. Did want to address the crafting one...making a sandwich is head and shoulders above crafting in this game. They really dropped the ball. But then again, there wasn't to much crafting in the series either. I mean, what, Kirk made a cannon once. Otherwise it was mostly someone waving a tricorder or other machine over an object and wallla! Crafting done. So I guess this is pretty much cannon <G>.
