Will I be gimping myself?

This is going to sound silly but I feel like i am kind of bonded with my crew. I have had most of them since level 1 and don't want to get rid of them.

Will i be gimping myself by not taking the rare boff rewards?

nah. while you won't get the better ground traits you will be able to train the rare skills.

No as long as your making sure you update skills you need I personally have made a number of skill changes to my guys having reached admiral and currently sitting on like 40000 bo points since I can't gain xp anymore. Just make sure your crew an the skills they have fit to your play style an how the ship is outfitted

Try and decide what your higher-level Bridge Officer skills should be before you start promoting them. Putting 9 levels into a skill, and then yanking it out to replace it with something that compliments the second teir will only cause headaches in space and on the ground.

Its not that bad once you reach Admiral because you can't advance anymore so all your personal XP you g2t from missions is automatically converted into BO skill points so your getting double BO points each time, so switching the skills around becomes VERY easy since you will have GIANT amounts of points to raise them.

While true, wiping out your entire T1 skill set to compliment T2, as a LT CMDR. makes it hard to get up there to Admiral. ;)

    awesome I made someones sig.

but yeah, I had the same concerns, the only thing that you can't change on your BO's are the traits and they don't really make much of a difference to worry about. at least for me anyway.

And if you want, you can sometimes find an affordable blue or purple quality officer in the AH. if you do, buy it up.

Increasingly, I find myself saving BOs' looks and recycling their name and look with a new BO after dismissing them.

    no and yes.

No your not gimped for not taking rare or epic boff rewards because you can have them train your crew.

Yes you are gimped on the ground if your current crew doesnt have good ground traits. When you pick your crew powers are not that important the ground traits are what is important assuming of coarse you intend on having them go on ground missions.

By the end of game those officers which do not have good ground traits can still be 100% effective in space. You end up with 12 officers only 4 go on ground missions.

What it boils down to is you want the +damage and exploit attack traits for your ground team 4 traits +5-10% each makes a big difference in the ground teams performance. I don't even have to participate in rear admril ground combat I can just alt tab and let my 4 bo take care of the enemies 90% of the time.
