Cryptic seems to have made them as more of a joke than an actual enemy. 2-3 people can easily plow through 3 cubes with several spheres and probes and not die.
You can find similar disparities with the Scimitar and other dreadnoughts. Fact of the matter is, all of Star Trek (be it movies and series) are made for TV entertainment and don't necessarily always follow the same rules of ship mechanics, physics, etc. because super attention to detail won't always captivate your audience.
Remember in various episodes of Voyager, borg encounters ended quickly (i.e. Drone, Q2, etc.) while others lasted longer (i.e. Unimatrix Zero). Why you ask? Because it's entertaining that way and suited the plot of the episode.
It's more or less the same in terms of the game. Keep in mind that its purpose is to offer a wide range of MMO game-entertainment while adhearing as close as possible to all aspects of the ST universe. Emphasis on "as close as possible" which means if you have read both star trek encyclopedias from cover to cover, you're bound to find at least a few details they missed.
The latest patch did release borg content for higher levels which probably means you'll see battles alot more similar to that of First Contact and some episodes of Voyager.
People just really need to bare in mind that VOY really screwed with the balance of things and frankly, VOY made a joke of what was an amazing race in Next Gen even before they came back with loads of their tech, they pretty much made the Q lame in VOY as well.
Also keep in mind that Starfleet has had 30-40 years to figure out ways to deal with the borg threat. As many times as a cube has made it to earth I'm guessing they've come a long way in figuring out how to build tougher, faster, and more powerful ships to deal with them.
And Voyager turned the Borg into a joke way before the game did.
well they could make it more like the show so the borg kill you 100% of the time even if you have a fleet of 40 players together a la wolf 359.. that would be really fun wouldn't it
/sarcasm
it's a GAME.. ramp the difficulty up a bit sure, but making it 'like in the show' is not the way to do it.

Keep in mind the game occurs in 2409 which is 30+ years from the end of Voyager.

Janeway said they had already adapted to that tech in their time so its 30 years gone ther would have adapted by now
Weren't the Undine kicking borg butt before Janeway came through and developed a weapon for the borg to use against the Undine?
lol Needless to say, Borg aren't the worst things in the galaxy anymore.
there's another thread on these forums complaining that the Borg are too hard.
No wonder cryptic can't do anything, even the fans can't agree on what they want. lol.
Yeh, Borg in the shows take entire fleets to demolish one cube. Maybe Borg encounters aught to be more like the Crystalline entity.
