Tops Ten Lists

I've decided to cancel my subscription which is rather a difficult and (then again) easy choice to make... In all fairness to Cryptic and the ones who love the game as well as the people that are frustrated, I'm leaving my top ten likes and top ten dislikes...

While I won't be able to post anymore, I will still check back everynow and again to see if anything has improved and then, maybe, play again in a few months. Anyone reading who wishes to add, please do so, with a compiled source of pros and cons, (please be constructive) then, developers will have a good idea where the game could, should and will go based on the players feedback. Thanks and hopefully I'll see you soon :)

:D Top Ten Likes

1) Character Design and Creation (including bridge crew)
The different aliens, patterns, uniforms and then the different shapes and sizes of all the individual parts..just amazing, I spent hours just creating characters...

2) Space Combat
Nothing beats a good fight, even the skirmishes were epic. Added with other players not competeing with each other for the best drops or loot, but trying to complete objectives together, all around a good time.

3) The Bridge Crew
Not just the part mentioned in number one, but the fact that you had a crew, could train them, equip them and choose who does what in space as well as on the ground was awesome... I wish more games had these options.

4) Tribbles
LOL loved it! Funny little side quest with humorous results, Genius!!! A bit annoying at times, but Genius!!!

5) The Ships and Uniforms
It wouldn't be star Trek without these iconic ships and uniforms... add your own names, customization and registery numbers, it's almost as fun as making characters

6) Star Trek References and Locations
Of course thay were going to put in Earth Space Dock and DS9... but the missions involving the Crytaline Entity, Guardian or Wolf 479... these were unexpected and actually very fun to see.

7) General Graphic and Movement
Not to shabby... not the greatest, but still pretty good. I loved the whole vastness of space feel I got whenever I panned around... using the tricorder and even some of the phaser stances were highly entertaining. And if you haven't checked out your bridge yet.. go do so now! (bonus... if you haven't checked out all of your emotes either, make sure you do that as well... "KAHAAAAAAANNNNNN!!!!!"

8) The Ranks
Finally a game that doesn't have the term "level"! I think you feel more accomplished when you say your a Captain of a Starship rather than a 78th level warrior/priest...

9) Space Dock
Who didn't like walking into the room and seeing the NPC bubbles talking about what the Admiral said about you and having them all salute as you walk up to receive your promotion.

10) NIMOY!!!!
What else can I say... I mean.... it's f---king NIMOY!!!

:( Top Ten Dislikes

1) Content
I know this a big issue and covered in many other posts... but without a good storyline, it's just another hack and slash.... and doesn't really feel like Star Trek.

2) Ground Combat
too long... just too long... and not very Star Trek at all... if it was handled more like halo or even star wars battle front it could have been so much better... in fact, it SHOULD have been better.

3) Phasers
Kind of ties in with 3, but didn't phasers have power settings? And they seem kind of weak to what I've seen in the shows... shouldn't need to hit a charging kligon 20 times to vaporise him... only one... And it's kind of disapointing that everybody ALWAYS hits whatever they shoot at... kind of makes that Shattner roll you get kind of useless

4) Missed Opprotunities
where are all the things they do in Star Trek??? Scan for lifeforms? Set Phasers for Stun? Go to Yellow Alert? Raise Sheilds? maintain a standard orbit around the planet? Target their main engines? Auxilarlly power to life support? He's dead, Jim?

5)Server Maintanace
AGAIN? I don't have much time, but when I do and want to play... the servers are down

6)Techno babble...
the item ans skill descriptions need clarification... half the stuff I have, I have no idea what it does, (but it's green and is worth 5000 credits)

7) Inventory
On so many levels... first off.. I have a starship... but no cargo hold??? So i really have to throw away that extra hypo? Why am i trading engine parts with a fernengi when I'm an officer in Starfleet? And since i'm officer in Starfleet and I don't get a paycheck (becasue it's a cashless soceity) why do I still have to pay credits to use the replicator onboard my own ship? there's more, but why keep going?

8) Weapons and Armor
Besides what I've already said about phasers... why have them at all? I gotta wait for a kligon to drop a better weapon than the one i'm using? I understand personnel sheilds and stuff... but why do I need a kit to use a basic skill that I learned in High School? And lets face it, these gigantic cannons from the predator movies that fire once every 20 seconds, they just look ridiculous...

9) Those little annoying things....
When a mission is complete, it's enough for a little chrip or message to flash across the screen... I don't need a chat window to open in the middle of the screen (while I'm still taking fire from enemy ships in a fleet action) telling me all we gotta do is beam up or warp out... dammit I'm the Captain, we'll leave when I'm goddam ready.

10)$14.99/month
Money is the last thing I''m worried about, but I've already paid 70 bucks just to be disappointed with the majority of the game, and even though I WANT TO GIVE THEM A CHANCE, I cannot, for the server is always down and I have less time to play... so, I just can't see myself continuing to play for this price... sorry

OH! and btw... i really think some one is going to become a millionare if they sell a t-shirt with the words "Where's Sulu?" across it...
