If you dillweeds can't keep your servers up more than half the day, don't waste my precious online time going in and out of lameass deep space encounters, I got noobs to pwn.

    lol - noobs to pwn...

these are not fun anymore. many times im grabbed right out of a system mission and looking at my rewards tyring to figure which one i want and BAM! in i go...
to top it off, they spawn you right in the middle of a group or several groups of enemies and unless you fast, you get pwnd by AI before you can get out of there.

they need to make a few changes and i think more people might be willing to join in them again...until then, i just warp out. annoying YES - deal breaker - meh.

I agree being pulled into those encounters when they "appear" near me and i am going through my bags is getting annoying. However not SO annoying that i feel the need to be a complete *KHAAAAAN* like the OP :D

I know a guy who always gets pulled into Deep Space Encounters.... He's a noob. Learn to avoid them or get off your TRIBBLE and move to a safe spot or DUH go on your bridge. The AI will not attack you if your are of significant higher level. So you only need worry about NPC's around your level and or special event encounters. Is it really that hard?

I was just sitting here minding my own businees looking at my stats and that (*@&*%$ has the nerve to suck me into combat. God damn I wish this game was harder...

I hate those things. ONe of them grabbed me up today. I was exiting a system and when I zoned I thought "Hey, I wonder if that tactical console I got as loot is better than what I'm using....I'll check." Then BAM. I was sucked into the DSE. And naturally as soon as I netered a dozen enemy ships blew me away in 4 seconds flat. I respawn hoping to escape. Nope. Soon as I respawn the same ships blast me to smithereens. (can't warp while under attack).

Those things are like the guys in front of convenience stores begging for change in sector space. You just want to go in and get some milk but they follow you and won't leave you alone.

Just give us the option to say "No thanks. Busy" for Pete's Sake.

ILMAO ehhh thats funny thats exactly how it happens to me :P STILL there is an arguemnt to say that in the star trek uiverse there is room for the unexpected..more episodic if we actually said "sood it im in for killing then"..

i dunno it sounded good in theory :D

On days when I have a lot of free time (which ain't too many) I can see the appeal. On days when I just want to do this mission or that and log, it ain't so funny.

I think an equitable option would be a way to turn them off ot make them voluntary in the options menu. That way people that like them can enjoy it and those that don't can be free of being sucked into them. I'm on the fence, really. They can be fun if you happen to have a few others with you in the zone. But when you get sucked in unexpectedly you're more often than not alone. During my respawn/gangrape issue this morning another guy zoned in and instantly zoned out in warp. (lucky him...they were all busy ripping a new a-hole into my ship to target him.) Still I've been in a few (voluntarily mostly) where i've had fun in a group. No words are even spoken. We all just zoom in on the nearest targets and phaser them to their knees. Sure, once in awhile you get killed, but hey, its only a game.

A game that would be a bit more fun if Ididn't have them following around in sectors like homeless dudes telling me they need a few bucks for the bus.

What's funny is they target npcs too apparently. The Big Dig ship was targeted by one the other day, I'm sure they're stuck in npc convo limbo, because that's iconic.

God, the retardedness and thanks for nerd input, it makes my day.

how is he being dumb? sometimes those enemy contacts are unavoidable. especially, as someone said, if you're checking on stuff, stats, training skills, chatting, etc. it's really becoming annoying. this game has so many bugs that i wouldn't be surprised that i lose an item or something while in the process of doing whatever and i get tagged into a DSE.

Absolutely agree with stopping us from being pulled into these things. I am supposed to be a skipper of a ship, and when I'm sorting crew skills out en-route to somewhere, are we really expected to swallow that my bridge crew would just let me sail into combat whilst I'm dealing with that kind of stuff?

I'm not saying get rid of them, but come one, at least let us have the option of choosing instead of just sucking us into them.

.... The little red ships that fly around sector space, yeah those are bad and will start combat with you if you get too close, aka .5km.

Its VERY easy to avoid them.

Also, if you don't close the initial pop up window, regardless of getting into combat you can just exit to sector.

I find the OP's comment about pwning noobs amusing. I wonder if the NPC's are loling at him for being pwned by them.

NPC_01 "Hey 02, I just pulled this noob into another DSE! haha I bet he'll go post something on the forums."

Last time I checked, both klingons and romulans have cloaking abilities, so yeah... its quite believable that you would be jumped by them without your crew knowing. Happens in the shows all the time.

Also, you can hand in and alocate skills before leaving a missions instanced space. So you could just do it there, and then pay more attention to things that might jump you in sector space.

If you zip onto your bridge whilst afk or comparing trousers they don't grab you. Also, I've found that generally if I bip over to a nearby system to hang out I can sort through gear to my heart's content.

I do get sucked in too though--either looking at loot or fixing a drink or running to the ladies room, there are times when I think I'll be super quick...and they get me. It's becoming a habit to head to the bridge or duck over somewhere before leaving the keyboard.

Well. It IS Sunday, and that's officially No Pants day I am told.

But comparing trousers=checking stats on your gear to see which is better to wear. ;)

Jeezuz! I just went to take a friggin' leak and I heard the sound of combat...yep, got sucked into a DSE on my way to DS9. What a pain in the backside. At least I was able to escape before the NPC Evil Ship Gang TRIBBLE and BBQ.

Do you know how easy it is to dodge them? Incredibly easy. I have not had this happen to me once. Ever. (Although I did once have a Romulan Warbird chase me across half the sector before it gave up, which was kind of funny.)

The only way this happens if if you're not paying attention--which granted I can understand as I have more than once stepped away from the computer for a few moments while traveling across the sector blocks.

I once got sucked into one.. while afk... and when I came back I had three loot bubbles around me! ;p

But yeah, afk at your own risk! lol

The best part about this, is thinking about the people wanting open PvP...

Just think of the posts... people can't handle NPC's jumping them, think how it would be if PC's could jump you.

I like the one my alt got sucked in to earlier. Was plugging along to k7 as lt7 for its intro mission. Just as I am getting to the border a hostile contact spawns and sucks me in. Mind you it is a -4. Once inside, clicking through the menu as fast as I can to get out, I get roasted in the few seconds it takes to hit warp to sector. Enter sector space dead, re spawn back at sol to fly all the way back down to border.
