I made a post a few minutes ago where someone asked where the nebula was. It got me thinking and so here's a new post with those thoughts! Yay!
So there's a good likely hood that new ships will be added via expansions and possibly via the C-Store (pushes the button on the 'BoooHissss' track). Anyway... what ships would you like to see and why? I'll start... first with the one that kicked this thread off..
..The Nebula Class. It's a iconic ship, just as much as the Galaxy class ship is. The ship class was as launched somewhere between 2363 and 2367 and has been involved in every war the Federation has been in sense. The Battle of Wolf 359, THe Battle of Sector 001, Dominion War to include the 2nd Battle of Chin'toka and the Battle of Cardassia as well as Operation Homecoming. The class has also led or participated in many rescue and salvage operation.. most notably the salvage/rescue of the Enterprise-D after Troi crashed it (damn women drivers). The Nebula is truly a ship worthy of being in the game. I can see it fitting into the T3 cruiser section... to simulate it's versatility I'd like to see it's Ensign Engineer slot be a Ensign Universal slot and (if possible) one of it's Engineering consol stations being a Universal one.
To keep going... The Oberth Class. I know, I know... but like the Nebula, it's also an iconic class. Even though it's an old.. old class that was launched in the 2280s (as was the Miranda class) we've seen it's still in service during the TNG eras. Like the Nebula, the Oberth has been a part of many rescue and salvage operations, to include the rescue and salvage of the Enterprise-D (again, after Troi crashed it). Also like the Nebula, you seen Oberth class fighting during the Battle of Wolf 359 and the Battle of Sector 001. I could see the Oberth as a new starter Tier 1 ship.
And speaking of the Tier 1 ships. I suggested this back when the game was still in beta and going to do so again. Having the ability to design our started ship at the same time that we make our captain. Currently there are 4 options for starter ships if you include the original Connie, so it seems like a fair request.
So everyone, go ahead, lend your voice, tell us what ships you'd like to see, why you think it should be added, and where you think it should be. And lend your support for picking our starter ship before the tutorial even begins!
I want the Nebula too... I realize its not something that can just be included in the normal ship lists because it is one of the only later generation ships with pontoon nacelles. But as a C-store addition it should definitely be added. The other problem being, of course, that it was one of the most powerful ships in starfleet so it should be fitted accordingly. It was foremost a science ship, but it had variations for war as well. It should therefore be a unique ship class with the three configuration options for tactical, engineering and science.
Next to that, maybe some of the X-series ships with the tri-nacelle design and cannons.

Just to say on the 3 nacelle design. The most famous instance (the Galaxy-X) was a fluke. It's been stated by Roddenberry and the other behinds the scenes people, that nacelles need to be in pairs for warp drive to work. If it's any odd number it would throw off the matrix or some other techno-babble like that.
I'd like to see the Ambassador Class and maybe the Exclesior Class later on. The Ambassadors made several key appearances throught the TNG-Era, and the Excelsiors held their own for well over a hundred years.
