Power issues

I don't know if I'm being silly here, but there's alot of talk about cruisers having huge power reserves. Thing is, where does it tell you how much power you have left? I know that apparently phasers etc do very little damage when power is low, but how do I tell?

Is there a battery meter somewhere that I'm missing?

Yes if you change your power slider to view position 3 you will see bars that you can individually adjust. I do this when I globally set my power specialize in shields then I up my weapons just a tad. So basically your bars represent use from your total power pool and where you want the focus areas to be.

Also nice about this view is you can see your bonus power as well. The developers have colored the additional power so it shows up nicely.

Oh important: It ALSO shows when you have a power LOSS. If you hover your mouse over the little icon at the bottom of the bar/column it will show what system. If this is red that means you are out and may need some additional power. Perfect example is weapons. I upped mine as I noticed it dipped red when an alpha strike went off. My only complaint is its hard to adjust sometimes when clicking with the mouse.

Someone correct me on this but I think the bonus power comes from points spent in engineering areas, bridge officers etc.
