Could someone tell me why these forums are even here, I come everyday and read different threads and try to contribute my tupence worth.
People are here everyday asking serious questions, raising serious issues they have with the game, its current state and its future state and get nothing but trolling replies... devs hardly ever respond to serious questions raised, even if they're asked in a polite manner, yet they always seem to reply to the "we luv Cryptic" threads...
What is the point here, we have issues with the game and things that are happening in the game, we submit tickets that get ignored, we contact GM's in game and get automated replies days later saying you've gone offline(1 one time i did speak to a GM i was told to submit yet another ticket), so we come here to ask and get nothing but the same individuals trolling...
Cryptic, dont you understand that not only is the current condition of game making people (me included) think twice about sticking around, but its also the trolls on the forums that are making it impossible to get any kinda of decent answers to anythign serious raised...
Are these trolls your competitors just sat around insulting anyone with issues to the point they leave ???
Criticisms posted in a polite manner - that don't have the "I was screwed" mentality - are very rare, on any MMO forum. Those that are posted in such a manner are almost never flamed. However, considering the fact that I'm sure this post is in response to your demand for a refund because you lose your free month with a lifetime sub, I'd say that it falls squarely into the "I was screwed" mentality.
Devs post answers to questions about lots of issues.
But people don't use the search function or the dev tracker and then wonder why no one answers the question that has been asked 30 times earlier that day.
prime example is/was the skirt issue. 900 threads a day, when it was already said it would be fixed, and heeeey look. now it is.
"The voice of the people has been said to be the voice of God; and, however generally this maxim has been quoted and believed, it is not true to fact. The people are turbulent and changing, they seldom judge or determine right."
For Trolls, people working for competitors to come here and type negativity so they can sink this game, for people who do the same for free beacuse they are so "loyal" to their other game and people like me/us that have no life and eat Pop-corns and enjoy the free entertainement.
Which Reminds me, maybe I should log on and play instead of wasting time here.

Try my thread on "Please add a death penalty" page 1.
Do you think my initial post in the thread deserved most of the immediate responses such as "Just quit already" or "delete your character if you want a death penalty"

Considering that this has been discussed to death, re-death, uber-death and uber-re-death, and a majority of people DON'T want a death penalty? Yeah, they may have been a bit harsh, given your tone, but it's not like you couldn't have added to one of the thousands of threads already up.
I must admit... you totally asked for it in this post. I need not engage in my usual activities with this one seeing as how there will be nothing left after the community is done feeding.
I dont see how anything i have asked in any threads i have ever made on these forums has ever been unreasonable to ask...
Wat?
Well, anybody that understood my question care to answer?
I really cant find the feature, and it kinda handy to use it when i see "cool story bro" "I can haz bla bla.." etc.
Took me 5 years of ignoring people on the wow forums, but when you ignore all the trolls the forums clean themselves up. It's nice to not have to read anything from someone who only posts trolls and drivel anyhow.
Because the early MMO's Had forums for feedback and it has been an industry standard ever since. They degenerated into nothing but flame fests along time ago and i do not really see it changing.
It is the same for every game The Haters troll and the fanbois defend to really no end other than the fact that they let off steam. And it does provide a unique sort of mental stimulation and entertainment.
The anomity also provides the funny wit of some people that they would and probably do not show in real life.
Fanboy, Hater and Troll are thrown around way too often and usually applied to people for simply having a differing opinion then another. Sure there are so definate Troll threads, but its not as bad as of late as its made out to be.

I seem to recall a thread where you were screaming in ALLCAPS about pressing charges and making all sorts of wild half-researched claims about internet technology.
OP has a history of trolling yet complains about trolls.
my god someone else see's it for what it is. /breath. thank you.
he makes all these post's and is now make ANOTHER one complaining about the answeres he gets. Any sincere polite anf genuine poster would have my full support

To answer the op's question that started this forum post. I do think the devs are reading the forums or at least someone is reading the forums for them and picking out lists of idea's and presenting the idea's to the Devs.
Right now the game is coming up on 2 weeks old so I have a feeling they are still cleaning up bugs from the release and I bet bugs have a priority over other idea's. I have definitely read several bug fixes in patch notes that were directly from players talking about them.
From my observation I think Cryptic really didn't know how well Start Trek On-line would be perceived by the gaming community. This I can completely understand, Cryptic only had so much money to work with and used it as wisely as they could to come out with a good solid game they could sell a subscription to.
Now that the launch parties are over and our Developers have time to really look at what they have created they must know that the game needs to be expanded.
We as the gaming community of this game should also understand that things take time to create and in 6 months the game may be a lot different. There should be more content and more adventure.
I think we need to take a step back and stop being mission critical of what we want right now and think about all the Developers and management that brought this great game to everyone. Thinking about it rationally I am very impressed with the game. I am an adult, when World of Warcraft came out I spent 4.5 years playing it, and in the beginning there were times when the game just wasn't playable due to down time, latency and bugs. I am surprised how much attention this game has got from me personally. I haven't had this much fun since the World of Warcraft first year.
Of course I am a star trek fan and thus this game seem exciting to me. I do feel we will see much more content and expansion of the game. Try to keep in mind it take time to write all that expansion content, improve what we already have running today and keep you interested in the game. There is a lot to consider while navigating this game to the mass general players and tending to individuals that would like to see something more extreme.
Give our developers and management the time they need and lets see what they are willing to do for us.

HOW?!?!?
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to ignore anyone in the forums:mad:
Overblown hyperbolic rage posts get overblown hyperbolic rage answers.
Thing is, most of the posts are of the overblown hyperbolic rage sort.
