Ok, it may be one of the servers. I opened the map and selected 'change instance' and picked a server with 43 players. So far its been stable.

    Welcome to the minority... /sarcasm

Seriously, when I mentioned this in a different thread that this, together with being unable to login is a killer situation for a new MMO I was called anything but pleasant things.

    I feel your pain tho.
    Been there, done that.

today's valentine's today, a sure sign that many many many many many many many star trek fans will be spending today playing STO. which is why the servers are getting overloaded and lagged.

I'm sorry that folks are still having issues getting to the STO server across the internet. But please keep in mind that your connection to the internet is just one of billions and traffic doesn't always get routed directly or efficiently. There's a lot of equipment in between your keyboard and the STO server that can effect your connection.

I suggest checking your launcher options to see if you're using the proxy connection. If you are, then uncheck to not use it. If you aren't then check it to try to use it. If you still experience issues connecting and staying connected, post in the technical forums about your problem and maybe another player or a tech has a solution.

It has ZERO to do with peoples connection to the net. The rubberbanding and disconnects, slow vendor, mail transfers of items etc is ALL server issues. The cluster of servers can´t keep up.

My guess is atari/cryptic don´t dare order more servers when after one months 50+% of the people usually leave an mmo.
