Imagine if Bioware had made this game?

Would've actually felt like a Star Trek game, hell they did justice to the Star Wars universe imagine what they could do with Star Trek.

If BioWare had made this game.

There'd be a split morality system that would make you out to be either Jesus' Second Coming or Satan Incarnate with no middle ground.

There'd be 7 main planets to visit, and the rest would have you running taking part in 2 minute text adventures.

The game would be unplayable for over half the PC userbase, and buggy beyond all reason until a patch was released 1 month later.

You really haven't played Knights of the Old Republic have you? And remember KOTOR 2 was developed by Obsidian not Bioware, it was on track to becoming as great as KOTOR 1 if not better, but Lucasarts rushed the game out before it was ready.

The game would not be out right now either.

If Bioware wanted to do the game, then I am sure that they would be doing it.

I have played KotOR, at launch. It was a buggy mess that wasn't playable on my PC until the 2nd or 3rd patch for it.

Mass Effect was unplayable until the first patch. Froze outright. Just as buggy.

BioWare makes good games yes. But 9/10 they are buggier and have more design problems than any of their fanboys are willing to admit. That's part of the reason I'm not holding my breath for TOR.

Ahhh yes, just imagine. Guided by Lucas Arts, the company that approved the NGE for Star Wars Galaxies. I can't wait to see Star Wars fry at launch, so I can post all over their forums about it. Oh wait, I won't, because I am an adult.

Just played through Mass Effect 2 and not a single crash or problem

Lost count on how many times star trek online crashed.

Hmmm, I've never had STO crash. Ever. But then this is the sort of problems one has with PC's. Different setups different components working in tandem.

well that would be my idea of heaven. maybe it would have a few bugs to begin with but they would get fixed. bioware have made about 5 of my all time favourite games. i just finished mass effect 2 and it was incredible.

it remains to be seen if the new TOR game is suited for multiplayer being so story driven and voice acted but there is little doubt it will be an awesome game and id love it if they did a single player star trek game in the future

    Indeed.

BioWare makes fun games, but they're not the God that their fanbase makes them out to be. The BioFanz are setting up BW/EA for a bit of a fall. I hope TOR does well, but the hype for that game is the biggest since WoW.

It would have been a total borefest. Seriously, everyone of biowares games has a good story, but absolutely terrible gameplay. and mechanics.

Mass Effect is full of homages to Star Trek too. Scottish engineers, the salarian scientist singing Gilbert & Sullivan, and then you have the actors... Marina Sirtis, Wil Wheaton, Michael Dorn.

Michael Dorn playing the part of a stodgy old warrior from a warrior race who believes in tradition and honor and glorious battle....

In your OPINION yes. I actually enjoy the gameplay and I've seen a hell of alot of worse games for mechanics.

At least the servers would work properly if it were Bioware. I played for about 30 minutes from when the server went back up now I just keep getting stuck at retrieving characters yeah right, one character hard to retrieve much Server=FAIL yet again.

The combat is entirely derivative of Gears of War.
Which is good, since Gears of War was good, gameplay wise anyway, and you have the added bonus of not having to control a large single-digit IQ gorilla-man.
It's not due to some magic ability on BioWare's part however.

Okay seriously, how the hell do you know?
What other mmos have BioWare ever been in charge of? TOR ain't out yet, so you don't know what their servers will be like or if their server hamsters will be better than Cryptics.

I wouldnt count on that at all. Server Op's are contracted out. usually to the likes of AT&T. take a look at Wow's tech. They are TERRIBLE at maintaining the servers, and theyre meant to have hired some of the best at doing their jobs.

Fast forward one year, people will be saying this exact same thing.

    ...

    On the SWTOR forums.

And you know this, how? Is this based on the many, many OTHER Star Trek games BioWare made? Oh, wait...
