Hi all,
I'm brand new to the game having bought this a week ago and I thought it might be good to post my initial feedback

(I do understand that there are a lot of BETA players around so thought I'd better make this distinction)
First of all I have to say I am a bit shocked at the cost - having paid £39.99 for a box I did expect to get a bit more play time out of that than 30 days. The monthly subscription after that is OK I suppose, but at these premium prices I would expect a fully polished product, which unfortunately doesn't seem to be there

Gameplay - this side of things all seems good. I quite like the play and have managed to pick things up fairly quickly (though for a non technicly minded person I find the item descriptions a little bit too indepth - if I want to buy a gun I'd like to know clearly if it's better than my current one and by how much - if it is I buy, if it isn't I don't - I don't really care about all the jargon attached as a new user). It's also quite easy to play the game by yourself without getting too involved with others early on which is good as a newbie.
Unfortunately this gameplay has been SERIOUSLY let down by the server quality - I've been playing a week and had loading screens stick on me numerous times now with no logical explaination. I've had to come in here today to find out that the servers have gone down whilst all I got in game was a hung screen which eventually logged me out - when I go to sign back in it lets me (which is wrong if the servers are down IMO) and I get to choose my character which then hangs the game again.....
I thought I'd log a ticket with support regarding this (despite having seen the numerous complaints of issues being ignored

) but the ticket system won't even let me create a ticket that can be ignored!
All in all I really hope that this gets sorted out very soon as there does seem to be a good game here - clear communication is the key and so far this has not been the case I'm afraid. I'm not one to throw my toys out of the pram, but if I cannot play the game I've bought for a large price on a Sunday lunchtime when I've got a couple of rare hours free, and then cannot even lodge a ticket about my experiences, then why should I continue to pay for this?

Last sentence is where things started to go wrong. If you like the gameplay, stay and wait for them to fix things. If you hate the gameplay, quit. If you cannot stand the random launch TRIBBLE, unsub for a month or so.
In after the instant gratification crowd who don't understand MMO's?
Understand there are game servers, log in servers, update servers etc.
Not saying you are wrong or right in your thoughts. Just pointing that out.

I wouldnt go that far to say people dont understand mmo's I think people understand them fine I think these same people are just annoyed that they have paid for a product that is so far behind being polished its wrong! in another context you go buy a car the car has no steering wheel when you go to pick it up from the dealership but hey its ok the dealer says we will put that in on the next model!
lol Have fun playing your female blood elf....
My what......?
And?
To the OP: Ths is the kind of feedback that I like. While you have touched on issues that have already been posted numerous times (Which i'll forgive as you are new here, and you didn't participate in OB), you have at least been eloquent, not gone off on a tangent and NOT flamed.
Although I would recommend you don't submit GM Tickets. Apparently they don't get answered.
I love using the car analogy when talking about software. I can't believe what people would readily accept from a software company that would have people screaming if it happened to their car. Do people really think it is simpler and easier to build a reliable car than to build a reliable game?
And if you want to put it in terms of service, you can compare it to phone or cable service. Would you really stick with a phone or cable company that was routinely down for several hours a day?
People solve technical challenges each day and most succeed at a high level. Those that don't, fail and few mourn their passing. Why shouldn't we hold software companies to the same standard we expect from any other business?
how often do car companies recall model lines that have design or mechanical flaws?
My main concern is not that the game is not perfect, but the fact that it is so expensive AND so obviously not ready
I'm not new to the MMO market and understand fully the pressures on the company to get this game off the ground, but with the high initial price comes greater expectations - if there was no initial price (just subscription costs, or at least a longer subscription as part of the initial outlay) then you can forgive some teething problems - it's the fact that I have 30 days play for £39.99 and I can't play for some of that that is annoying.
I'm also having to come looking for answers instead of being clearly told in-game that there are issues. I understand to the patronising response from one replier that there are different kinds of servers involved, but as a user does it really matter to me which server is down if it means I cannot play the game? The fact that one server is down surely warrants a) concern and b) communication to me as the user?
