many have expected it in the beta and sadly it comes out to be true, the gamae is so far from being ready and stable that to pay for monthly is a bad joke...
cryptic should give at players who has activated there account at least 1 free months to compensate all this server up ands down and expected and unexpected downtimes that followed by more downtimes...
you have perheps not realised we all have paid more or less money for the game and you cryptic expect we pay a months fee... this means you have to finish your game ( actual it is ajoke not have enough content for even 1 months) and most importent provide a stable service...
you are clearly unable to do so.. you use all the paying customers as beta testers.... without a end in sight...
not with me ... I cancel my account ( being anyway admiral far before the free months ends and even through half of the time I want to play see a offline server and see if later the game improves...
as a company I can only say you have not learned from other desasters at the start of a online game server... you should have learned from AoC, Vanguard and other promising game ip thats ends after the free months with only a fraction of there origianal cusomers left so that at the time you have inproved you serve s to serve 1 millions customers you have 200 K or less.. because of the rest is so dissapointed by what happens at the start of the game that they have left.. and experience from all other online games clearly proves not many come later back...
it is realy a pity you had the chance to have a large solid customer based but you have messed it up ... most of you team really deserves what always followed 2-3 months after such a start.. and this is your workers get fired because of not enough income from the game left to hold on the team.
Compared to other MMO launches, STO's has been incredibly smooth considering they are dealing with way more players than they ever anticipated.
Not sure where you are going on the content side, seems like plenty to do to me, certainly more than a months worth. But then i dont spend every minute of every day rushing to get to the highest level. You can reach level 80 in WoW in a weeks total play, but i wouldnt dare suggest theres only a weeks worth of content in the game.
Even a 14 year old Dutch boy like me speaks better English than you.:D
About your complaints, this may not be the most content-rich game you can find. At least, not yet.
More content will be added in the future, and I hope that future will come to us soon.
it is ... (2nd lang,.) and no the start is not smooths at least not for player in the US zone... servers are more down then online
so many unexpected downtimes I have seens since many many years in onlinegames and I play online games for over 10 years now (long before DAOC even)
Then you have a very selective memory, and/or never played another MMO on release.
STO has had one of the smoothest releases I've ever seen. Quite frankly, I'm thoroughly impressed by Cryptic's release (stability wise. They still have a bit to go on content.)

I received a Buddy Key from a friend so I could try this new MMO... and it failed. I activated the game yesterday evening and couldn't patch&play the game cause of "Server Down"... after about an hour I could finally take a peek into the game with a "Server not Responding" message while entering a random zone. Now at the 2nd day (of 10 days) I can't play cause the servers are down again.
Maybe they should've taken a look at the pre-orders + the buddy keys and calculate the estimated server capacity they need. They wouldn't even have to put all servers up at once, but have one or two (or more) ready for boot so they can actually work against the crashes.
Beside the Downtime and Server Crashes... the game is far from being ready.
I'm german and when I read the translation ingame... ohemgee...
First quest info is german... 2nd page is english.... 3rd german again... Then I get messages like "You received 1 *enter_german_item_name_here*. Friend told me They even started translating proper names like "Deep Space Nine".
Well, Final Fantasy 14 will hit the shelves in Summer... I guess that will be my next MMO for a looong time...
As with anything good that begins, it requires improvement. My experience with MMO's is that there will always be things that need tweeking. Take Everquest and World of Warcraft as examples. They were constantly doing patches and updates to meet the demands of it's customers. As most mature MMO's can expect, the first 4 months will be dedicated to working out the bugs, things not seen in a limited beta test.
I am very encouraged by the system that Criptic/Atari has set up for STO. I believe it has great potential. As an MMO junky, I would prefer that they focus on game mechanics, that is to say, smoothing out the rough spots like connection issues and game glitches, before focusing on new content. I understand there are those that have a different opinion and I respect that. How ever, in my experience, a good MMO never works perfectly the first time. I believe a little patience is in order, allowing the devs to make a good system work better, and I wish them the best.:)
Using a 10 day trial. I like how the games space combat feels (away missions make me want to cut myself) yet I cant justify BUYING the game at this point. As an Australian, I come home, do house stuff, make tea, then game.... oh, servers down. Servers down. Oh servers down again.
If I can only play on weekends (due to your downtime, my RL Working all day), fine. That's 2 of 7 days, so doing math... roughly $4 subscription fee a month. Give me that Cryptic and I'll buy your unfinished game. Otherwise I'll wait for Cataclysm.
But again, loving the space PvE combat (when servers up) however pvp matches (from the 3 i tried) was zerg, zerg, oh and more zerg! Not sure how this can be fixed... maybe its just a Tier 1 ship thing, and more diversity in later ship Tier's fix it? I dunno, but, I'll see you all in 6 months. Maybe.

Agreed! The STO launch is 2nd only to lotro, which had the smoothest launch ever. A lot of people are complaining that the servers are down more than they are up, but that's simply not true. Even on a day with a two hour maintenance and an unexpected downtime, you still have about 20 hours of service! That is excellent for a new mmo, especially one as popular. Even wow had a horrible launch. It was nearly unplayable for the first month.
It seems the EU community has had a lot of connection problems but that really can't be helped until they put in EU servers.
I hope you actually did quit, OP - uninstall the game and cancel. That way, we won't have to read anything you've written, ever again. My suggestion for you might be a game called "Hooked on Phonics" because your english is terrible.

You cant even spell, but you expect Cryptic to make a "FLAWLESS" game without any gliches to fix. Good luck with that, because I cant think of one single MMO that didnt go thru this same process.
Compared to other MMO launches, STO's has been incredibly smooth considering they are dealing with way more players than they ever anticipated.

I purchased / recived the game yesterday!!
I couldnt log in last night due to "unexpected" server downtime. I couldnt log into today due to schedualed downtime then I return later in the day and its "unexpected" server downtime...AGAIN!
I dont give a rats backside about any other MMO. I paid to play Star Trek Online. The Price included 30 days worth of game time. Therefore for each day with unexpected downtime I expect 1 day credited back to my account!
As Content Is added later, I will be returning, but for the current moment, i have no intention of paying to play this game as I have reached lvl 45, I will finish off doing the klingon content, but after that I'll deffo come back later as this game has the potential to be great. As It stands, I was dissapointed i didn't get paid on time to buy the lifetime sub, but I'm kinda glad i didn't. This game has the potential to be great. But, it's potential hasn't currently been met enough for me to justify paying fo the game.
The big problem is not that they have to add content....all MMO's have to do that.
They didn't START with nearly enuff content, that will put them way behind....at least
for all the players that start the game now.
No doubt there will be enuff content for NEW players a year from now...but what
are current players do while they wait?
What this game SHOULD have had functional BEFORE launch....and yes, it would have
taken 4 years, not 2 years to make.....like most other MMO's
3-4 COMPLETE factions
sector areas...instead of 'maps' ...10 times thier current size
few instances
multiple servers, regular, RP, PVP
huge planetary areas
grinding for folks that like that
WAY more ships
slower progression
deeper stories, for all factions
open pvp areas
functional internal ship areas, useable during transit
ect...
if this game was a car....it would be a strip down model...it works....thats about it.
Yah the only problem is that you get to the endgame in 3 days played time.
I have played for over an week now and I just hit Lt. Commander yesterday (both on my Klingon and fed).
There are other things to do besides playing computer games. Go outside! Enjoy the fresh air! Hop on your bicycle and do some cycling! If you play for more than 3 hours a day, I would say: you are a computer nerd!
it is ... (2nd lang,.) and no the start is not smooths at least not for player in the US zone... servers are more down then online

If English is not your primary language, than I suggest you lay off the hyperbole, as we have about 89% uptime. That means that, since the beginning of headstart, the servers have been up about 89% of the time. In order to be down more than up, as you put it, it would have to be up no more than 49% of the time.
Please stick to facts when asking for other people's opinion, not hyperbole or conjecture.
That being said, yes it's worth the price. I have a max-level character, another character almost to Lt. Cmdr., a Klingon waiting (I'll work on him more when we get some more stuff to do as a Klingon) and will be making a Science Captain focusing on Science vessels. I thoroughly enjoy the game, and only expect better things from it.
OP..........just go away then. If you don't think STO is worth the money go play WoW or something else. Looks to me like there are plenty of ppl(including myslef) who are very happy with this game.
I challenge you to find a MMO out there worth spit right now besides WoW or STO.....

Too little, too late springs to mind.
Loads of good mmo releases coming this year, if they do lose players, it'll be tough to entice them back.
