Go out side and do something for a couple hours? At least it goes down around noon for you, and not 8pm, when you know... its either play or go to bed.
I'd like them to change server maintenance to around 5-10pm GMT... that way when I have my prime time during week days here in Japan, I can actually play.
A freshly launched MMO having maintenance often? UNHEARD OF!
middle of saturday, sunday, almost every evenings during the week, not answered in-game tickets, posting "no-patch after this maintenance" but 160 mb patch, aşways having"server not responding" and long loading times every time changing sector block, and man where the hell is my space action bar 1 since 2 days? or are you happy to throw a punch with your spaceship?
There are enough threads on the forums you probably haven't read yet :P
But all joking aside, it is quite annoying that the unexpected downtimes can always be expected to occur during weekend play time, esp. when US and EU prime times start to mix. And don't start, it's the servers, it's the servers. If it were just server performance you'd see massive lag, you'd get immense load times, you wouldn't just downright crash. Even with thousands of users on a lagged system, if you wait long enough, your job will reach the processing queue and give a return. You might time out, true, but that would in turn clear up space for others.
I think it's more something database related, some corruption occuring and they haven't found the source yet. That is much more likely to cause major issues. If you don't nip corruption in the butt right from the getgo, you could be looking at having to perform a recovery to a earlier state of the database.
So on one hand, good of you Cryptic to take down the servers as soon as you notice something going wrong, but I am concerned about the fact that you can't seem to put your finger on the underlying problem. I hope it's not a design flaw in the game that we just have to learn to live with. :S
The poster made a statement. There was no indication of any level of 'worked up' only to someone who wanted to imagine a high level of 'worked up' so they could respond.
For the last time!
EU means European Union, and that doesn't mean Europe..
The European Union is an internation organisation of close coorporation between 27 individual states.
The European continent contains 50 states of which 27 are in the EU, yes?
All clear everybody?
Bloody Americans...

The EU is one of the Trilateral powers that was setup ultimately by the Jesuit order. Yep. Once all three of these world powers are working together in unity...i've said too much.
