Firstly, this is not a complaint but a genuine question. I have no issues with the current level of downtime as I appreciate that a new game as involved as STO will need to be patched / re-configured loads in the first few months. Also as a Systems and Network manager I know that the STO Techies would rather be anywhere but in the 'office' on a weekend.
So to my question. Are there any plans to implement different time zone servers, either all located in the US or aroung the world? Maintenance could then be arranged on time zone basis, thereby eliminating most of the moans and groans form the non US players (You'll never stop them all

). I know this would require much more work for the tech teams, especially if all the servers were in the US and I wouldn't expect this to happen that quickly either as getting the game right on the servers we have must take priority.
As I said, this is just a question. I'm happy with the game as it currently is and I know the downtimes are only making things better, so keep up the great work guys and don't pay too juch attention to the moaners as you'll prove 'em all wrong in the end I'm sure

Oh good idea. Could it have come from my response in another thread just moments ago?
How about this? Cryptic tests STO on the DODO server and then migrates the best parts to the other servers.
I hadn't read any other thread before posting this, sorry if you beleive i plagerised you. It was just something I've been thinking about for a while now. Still If you did post something similar it just goes to show how great minds think alike doesn't it
Indeed,
It's the only possibly conclusion to this predicament.
Cryptic should not have all their eggs thrown into one basket. Backups are required. Which leads me to believe if they would upgrade and do maintenance on primary servers, we can all continue to play on the secondary server until the primary is done, then we can play the primary server while they upgrade the secondary server.
Less downtime for Cryptic, more gameplay for the fans, and no complaints on the threads about this issue.
More time to read posts that make a point.
Too have a backup/second server as you propose they wouls have to have another 40-50 servers.
