A playable Borg suggestion...thoughts?

I love my character and certainly would not want to start over; however, what if we could opt to do a quest line that essentially has our character assimilated by the Borg then subsequently liberated. Thus, our present character would evolve into a liberated Borg with some reward for doing the quest line. Who would want and/or pay for this?

I know I would but it would have to be a quest line that could be completed solo, I don't agree with forcing people to group up if they don't want or have the time to search out for groups. I think we should acknowledge that some good people just come here to be alone for a little while.

I digress, the point is to offer an option to enjoy a familiar aspect of the life and dangers of Starfleet officers.

Having bought the lifetime for reasons other then the borg, i would be indiferent too it. - so long as it doesn't allow anyone to have more traits then me due to custom race's. prefer it to go through the C-store, so the game doesn't turn into 98% borg.

Honestly? I mean the deal was great and if I wasn't on disability I would have bought it too but do you really think that even though you got a great deal will always save money that no one ever should be able to play Borg? I mean how does that effect your game play even. I don't want to argue about it but I don't see how that......wow speechless at the moment.

Certain perks like that should be unique, I dont have the lifer membership, but think it is fair that perks like that stay perks for that purchase.

I do like the idea of being able to earn things also for sale in CStore, but got to side with you lifers on unique borg character look and bonus.

Yea I could see that. A decent price through the c-store for the option of making the quest line available. Population is certainly an issue so making it like the Klingon and Ferengi is a great idea. Thanks

Alot of people would not have bought the lifetime sub if we believed the Borg would be available to everyone at a later stage. It was stated that Borg were avilable ONLY to life time subscribers and it would be robery if they were given to everyone in say 1-2months time.

No I certainly don't want to take away the uniqueness of the character but the Borg universe is entirely too big to limit it to those who could afford it within a few weeks time. Perhaps and I don't know if this is already in place, but I know they are still offering the lifetime membership so if it was still attached to that. I don't know just an idea to expand the Borg race numbers a bit. I should also add that I was going for a means by which anyone who got playable Borg from this point forward didn't have to start over. I think we can agree that STO while great doesn't really lend itself to multiple characters within each faction.

Again I do understand that Windra and i don't mean to suggest taking from that but surely there can be a suitable and acceptable means to accomplish it without taking from lifers. An example would be like I said, to continue to offer it to players that purchase lifetime memberships. I mean they would be paying more than you lifers had to pay early on. Isn't that reasonable?

I wish it was available for anyone buying a lifetime membership as a little incentive. I was going to do a Borg rp division in my fleet. I only found out STO was released 3 days after and the offer no longer applied. Shame really :( I want my borg..

The Liberated Borg isnt that impressive, its nice for RP but trait wise the standard options get you more and cost you less.

I wouldnt mind if they offered the Borg race as an option but in return I want Borg Bridge officers to be offered. Seems only fair but I dont see either happening for at least 6 - 12 months.

Cryptic specifically said these pre-order bonuses and lifetime bonuses would be exculsive for a significant amount of time before MAYBE being offered through Micro Transactions.

There is no doubt in my mind Cryptic would not pass up the chance to CHARGE people for these abilities and give them free. Exact same situation as Respecs around the skill system and that topic is already bringing all manners of wrath on Cryptic.

The last thing Cryptic needs is to demonstrate once again its crewed by a staff that go back on their deals, falsely advertise and have pathetic customer support.

Nah. You had your chance to get the liberated Borg.

No kidding. It was part of a very expensive package for people who bought into the game as a show of support.

At the very least you're going to need wait until the Lifetime subs pay for themselves before Cryptic will be able to put them up without people getting angry, maybe longer.

Next time decide whether you want to pay that money ahead of time, rather then asking for it for cheaper.

I would buy the lifetime package now (which i was going to get on the 3rd) if the Borg was included. After all I am paying a higher price than previous lifers will of done. Works out around £230 with tax. I know it ain't going to happen. Just have to hope something happens in the future that makes the people who have missed out happy and doesn't irriate you lucky people who got your lifetime before release. I guess i could always play Star Trek: Borg for my fix.. Now thats a game :p

I just want to make my position clear. Cryptic can and will do whatever they want.

They may offer the liberated Borg at some point in the far future (18 months would seem likely)

If they do i would expect them to CHARGE you for it. Yes charge you real money via the Cryptic Point system. 1000 points sounds right.

Why should you jump into a quest kill a few baddies and get the option to play as a liberated Borg? Sorry. You pay to play. Like WE did. No handouts.

If they don't offer it and decide to keep some things EXCLUSIVE. Then too bad. Your ship has sailed. Move on.

I could see it being offered sometime down the line if there's an anniversary lifetime subscription offer like what LOTRO did.

Otherwise if I were you, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Selling the Borg by itself at an extremely lowered cost would probably set off a lot of lifetimers, and make people question their decision to buy future lifetime packages. It's really not a good long-term decision for Cryptic to make.

You just seem interested in getting a cool looking Borg. Most of you are on your free 30 day trial. Lifers are the ones who have already paid into this game BIG time. It was nice of Cryptic to give us this little exclusive extra! In this case we did EARN it.

In 18 months if you are still here (doubtful since you wont cough up for the lifer now, which in any case SAVES YOU MONEY)...maybe you can buy the Borg in the Cryptic store!

the op stated he expected to pay for it - he just wants to take his current character over to a lib borg instead of re-rolling a new one.

Playable Borg (aside from what lifetimers got) will be Borg faction.

And while some players have scoffed at a Borg faction, I believe Craig Z. said it was on his short list of factions he'd like to add down the road.

Now... The Amazon exclusive was a Liberated Borg Human Female Engineer Bridge Officer. So without trampling on that, I think it would be cool if through the C-Store and through endgame Borg raids, they introduced more Liberated Borg BRIDGE OFFICERS as long as they weren't specifically the type that came with the Amazon preorder.

But any playable Borg beyond the lifetime offer (which I'd expect will be exclusive for at least 16 months) will more than likely be Borg faction, which is under consideration.

The second the Borg faction comes out, you can bet i'll be playing it exclusively. Cryptic could do alot of interesting things with a playable Borg faction thanks to how the Borg are "culturally".

You know this is precisely the type of post I don't get. You said essentially what I've been talking about. Paying extra for the chance to convert a current character to a liberated Borg, perhaps after an assimilation then liberation.

I never asked for anything cheaper and certainly no handout's, but you have seemed to convey an idea just like mine yet loaded with so much anger and hatred. You added these "cheaper" and "handout" to somehow, I don't know really, justify your hatred perhaps.

This is a great game with lots of great people. Yet there are still so many with elitist, entitlement and down right scary attitudes regarding what is essentially still a game.

Let's take a moment and suggest some counseling for those of you with such hatred in your hearts and NO I'M NOT BEING FUNNY. Get help with the hatred before it consumes your real life.

    1) I don't expect that a new way to get a playable Borg will be available during the first 16 months. (The amount of time requried for the lifetime subscription to become cheaper than the monthly subscription.)
    2) After 16 months Cryptic may decide to re-offer the playable Borg with the Lifetime suscription again, or may perhaps make it an expensive item in the C-store. Don't count on it, but it is possible.
    3) I don't expect that they will every make playable Borg available for free. Nor do I expect that they will offer the ability to change an existing character into a Borg.

Just my opinions, but I would be pretty surprised if something else were to occur.
