Thanks guys. If there wasn't a better time to schedule some downtime I don't know what is.

It's fine for US players, just sucks for everyone else.

If you can think of a time that works better for all time zones please enlighten us.

    I have to agree.

Really silly time to have scheduled maintenance. 11am - 1pm Sunday GMT (UK) which 12pm - 2pm CET. So, the whole of Western Europe prime playtime.

This is partly a symptom of having a worldwide server - BUT... you could have done it on a weekday so at least a huge number of poeple would be at work, not at home enjoying the weekend on Star Trek Online.

    D'oh.

Please rethink these times going forward.

    Love the game,
    Mark.

As I said, times are difficult.. but at the weekend?

Is this going to be the same going forward, or is it just the burining in period?

Wednesday. Seriously. No better day to do patches or resets.

    Friday-Sunday people want to play
Monday people will come home in a bad mood and want to kill things.
    Tuesday is owned by microsoft
Thursday has one more letter than Tuesday

For these reasons, Patch day should be Wednesday.

I'm just teasing them at this point. This entire release has been positively keystone cops level. You just gotta sit back and laugh it off. When I even TRIBBLE up the courage to log on I have 3 types of nothing to do, and then the server goes down :)

I think a Dev commented on that they were trying to make Thursday patch day. Which I thought was a bit odd being that late in the week, in case there were problems. I figured they'd go for Tues or Weds.

A rational idea? Your resume would so be in the trash first round.

But I don't need a resume... according to this guy, I must work for Cryptic.

I'm still waiting on that paycheck from them though... the cheapskates. :p

Yes how about not during the weekend!

I know for a "normal" company its normal to patch in weekend coz nobody or at least not a lot of ppl at work so impact is small, but for a game company its juts stupid and then they do it Twice in a weekend are u freaking kidding me!

Think its time for some compensation get some free days on account coz this is just stupid all this downtime.
Yes its start of a new mmo but if we had this much downtime/ptach for our customers we would be out of a job.

i don't really like the server down at this time, but i understand it..........
i just want more advance warning..........grrrrr
15 min is not enough advance warning.............lol
atleast 1 hr advance with warnings every 15 min would be great..........:)
better yet, just pick a nite in the middle of the week. [T,W,or TH]
then everyone can expect maintance on wednesday at 3am

I try hard not to complain about stuff, and I have to say that STO has been largely trouble free for me so far. Game is amazing and it works on my crappy laptop.

However, maintenance on weekends is ridiculous, especially this weekend where we are having it Saturday and Sunday. I find it profoundly hard to believe there are less people playing on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning between 6 AM and 8 AM PST then there are on a Saturday morning. I don't have much time to play, except on weekend mornings and now I can't play. I will have to log into my facebook account now, and that sucks...

Please, please, PLEASE do maintenance on weekdays and not weekends devs.

Was a 30 minute warning server wide, I know because I have made a habit of watching for it at 2:30 am :(

    Hi again,

Is there any place that we can mention this where they will actually listen?

They don't give a damn about any of us. I think they're hoping for a massive exodus so they can manage a game size that they planned for. It's really the only explanation for delivering such an albatross of a game, then managing it with the same style and grace that they designed it with.

UPDATE 1: No patch notes for tonight, no new patch. This is all performance and stability maintenance.

This tells me they have server issues and this isn't a scheduled patch. I'd rather have a patch now that fix server crash issues than playing for 4 days with an unstable server.
And I'm in CET timezone so it's a freaking annoying time for me too.

Memory leaks and database threads are cleared by rebooting the server. SWG used to do it all the time. It's just an indication of You're Paying to Beta.

Re-install windows? I thought when it glitched or something the fix was a shotgun to the CPU case..

I'm not sure I follow your logic... but yes, I accept this kind of thing will happen because it has just started.

However, do you have any confirmation that weekend patches aren't the norm?

    Cheers,
    Mark.

No matter what time server maintenance, patches, what have you takes place is the worst possible time for someone. I haven't played a game yet that people didn't line up to complain, 'it's too early, it's too late, this is my only playtime ad infinitum, ad nauseum'. Sadly the perfect time to take down a game is never.

Someone will always complain, I agree. But not a weekend. That is just doesn't make sense for the vast majority of players, not just for few that happen to have taken a day off midweek or similar.

Depends if they patching to fix something that will either result in something Important game wise OR if a server somewhere is spitting sparks

Nice image. If I had a server spitting sparks, I wouldn't give people notice of planned maintenance.. I'd be pullin' the plug straight away :D

Alternating schedule will make everyone suffer a little, but in shared suffering can be built esprit de corps.

I'm good with that but hell no matter when it is I have something else to go play to pass time, CoX, DDO, Lotro, something single player. I guess with great age comes great patience or I just have the attention span of a gnat.. A little from column A, a little from column B.
