Hello,

Going to keep this positive..

First of all I'm a die hard pvp player, and games Like Dark Age of Camelot had some the best pvp (i think) ever made..

Open World pvp where we can go in and take OBJ and Capture and hold, take so many to unlock a special OBJ like a Planet.. Then go to the planet and Fight in space , once you beat the planet defenses you beam down to planet and with your away teams or something ..

Dev's plz , this will keep the game going for long time .. any type of open pvp.. with out it you cant make enough content to keep players around for longer than a few months..

We MUST have bigger instances as well, 40-50 man instance to small..

Fleet Actions NEED a option to put one fleet in one fleet action.. taking 20 fleet members to a fleet zone and everyone being split up is pretty lame.. no reason to be in fleet other than finding a premade grp..

I understand alot of ppl dont like to pvp but , thats a small part ..

Let me pvp Ground 1 vs 1 with my away team, right now my away team is pretty much useless as a max lvl klingon.. I've never even seen my Borg Bo ..

This game (i think) could be one the best out .. just need some work..

Yeah, open world pvp would be cool. I think fleets could be a big part in this, maybe fleet or aliance owned planets or stations.

Also if crafting improves resources would be a good thing to fight over.

All this has been suggested many times before.

Open world pvp would be difficult to implement in sto as the whole game is instance based. There isn't a single common open world zone.

It's doable im sure, but not with the current set-up.

I would not consider myself "hardcore," but I do support some kind of open world PvP. Currently it is contrived and boring to say the least {and yes I have PvPed at all possible tiers...on all possible maps}.

I can't see how you can have the type of open PVP you talk about on a server with shards.

Kind of Port battle like in POTBS maybe with planets to capture ? With something like 30/30 pvp battle.
And you can't get back in game if you are destroyed so the last one standing side wins.
And if there is people still in one piece at the end, they beam down and continue the fight on the ground.

The thing is I don't know how it's possible to determine who win on a server with shards, a % of victory during a day ? Not easy, but not impossible.

At least one point i'm ok with the OP is PVP players can make the game live on the long run if you give them an area where they can express themselves.

Adding a "Danger zone" on the galactic map shouldn't be such a problem.

i mentioned in a another thred a open PvP faction could be added as a small expansion for civilian vehicles. players can be transport captains (legal or smugglers) or they can play pirates.... transport capains would have access to missions to go from one location (planet/space station/etc.) to another - when they make deliveries then a merch there will have special items for sale while supplies last - pirates would set up ambush's in systems or roam sector space and can trigger PvP battles like how DSE's work now... first they have to disable, then board a transopt... transports could send a distress signal and fed/klink player fly by can stop and help if they choose - if they discover the transport is a smuggler they can arrest them for a xp bonus.

I think you'll find that the 'small part' is actually more than 75% & most definitely the Majority.

Take a look at the Subscription numbers for a game like Eve (100% PvP) & a game like World of Warcraft (Majority PvE). I think those numbers alone are revealing.

There is PvP in World of Warcraft, but count the number of 100% PvP Servers against the 'Normal' servers.

PvP Players make up a tiny minority of the playerbase in most games, but they also tend to be the most vocal in Game Forums, which makes it appear like they are a majority.

Making Star Trek Online 'open world pvp' is probably the fastest way to kill it.

Eve Online is probably the game you want, has open world PvP to your heart's content. It ticks along nicely in its niche market & you would probably love it, lets just not make every mmo an 'eve clone', Star Trek Online is played for fun & enjoyment.

In the meantime, the majority of the Star Trek Online playerbase will continue to enjoy the PvE game to its fullest. :)

I am mostly PVE orientated, still during my missions i am 99.9% sure that nothing unexpected will ever happen, since i know that noone from the opposing faction in the STO universe can ever come to a place i m currently on.

This alone pretty much kills the MMO feel of the game, atleast for me.

I would agree on this if there is any real PVE challenging content in the game.

So cross your fingers and hope for the best, or quit, it is up to you.

    Hello again,

Well maybe not OPEN world , but atleast a couple of zones where zoning in at your own risk...

    Dont like eve ..

Feds would have the clear advantage just because of there numbers vs klingons , but that wouldn't matter to me ..

but when i say open world I really ment like open RVR in set maps like in Dark age camelot..

My bad for not making that clear..

This is what has been discussed ad-nauseum for the neutral zone, to have conflicts in different systems, but it'd have to be either instanced or player capped (which would lead to the kind of problems they had with Warhammer with people unable to enter certain areas and population imblances ruling the entire zone, i.e. Feds own all by sheer numbers alone).

Ok, to take DAoC as a start point:

DAoC is a single server, it's not like Crau and Bolg are on separate shards, this is what you'd encounter in STO. You'd not be able to run from one keep to the next, because the people in that keep would be in a different shard.

While DAoC isn't open world pvp, it is open zone. there is only one Emain, there is only one Haidreans. In STO there would have to be hundreds of Emains on individual servers.

To be like DAoC you'd have to allow everyone into the same Frontier instance and that could be thousands of players.
