Would you like to have your money back?
If you answer yes would you like the payment in nickels or quarters?

that's lunchtime, why don't you use that time to go eat. Or go outside, go do something else. 2 hours away from the computer won't hurt you.

Unless ofc that 2 hour period is the only time you can play that day, suddenly 2 hrs = a full day lost.

However it is to be expected at this stage of release, and 2 hours is better than WoWs 1am -> 11am jobs that extends to 5pm.

It is very annoying that the downtime is always in the middle of the day for UK subscribers but in the middle of the night for the US. So far since beta this game has not made it through a single weekend day without the servers either going down themselves or being taken down for maintenence. Yes I understand that this is to make improvements but why do it in the middle of our day when most people with free time and this game will be playing it!

Why not do it a few hours earlier? It's almost as if Cryptic are looking after their US customers while giving us the finger.

One thing even more annoying than the downtime is the sheer number of Cryptic defender fanboys that keep telling us to stop moaning! We have a right to play the game. If it's not available to be played then that kind of defeats the objective! Come on Cryptic you can do much much better.

I know there is a thing called timezones. He's already said he's GMT, so what I said is right, that's lunchtime. It's Sunday, so there's not really a lot else to be doing in the UK. Plus, it was 830am when he posted this, meaning he's already up and online playing. Either that or he's one of these people that gets up and checks the internet forums straight as soon as their awake.

Quit whining about downtime. EVE goes down every day for an hour. I'd be whining about why the new machines haven't fixed the weekend issues if I were you.

didnt the eve downtime get put up by half an hour not to long ago ?

in any case, so what the servers down for a couple of hours, there are 24 hours in a day, I am sure that in the 22 other hours you can find time to play

This is the kind of brainless reply that has become too common on here. Everyone has a right to play the game they paid for and are now subscribing to. Peoples play hours are different so you can't say to someone that it's only 2 hours out of the day. Take my situation, on weekends I can get free to play between about 10am and 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Today that's going to be interuppted yet again by server downtime.

If the maintenence was done a few hours earlier it would be fairer.

My sub lapsed at the end of January 2010 and it was still an hour long. Sometimes only 45min. Just visited the site and forums can't see anything about it going up to 1:30.

actually my post was well thought out and constructed, its just the simple fact that YOU dont like what I am saying, therefore in your eyes I must be wrong, I know peoples play hours are different and yes its a little annoying when you wanna play and theres downtime, trust me ive been playing eve online for four years and downtime is 11-12pm gmt, there have been occasions that I havent been able to play as a result, but you know what, that was just tough luck for me, as this is tough luck for you, if you cant play any other time, then try changing your schedule a little, cryptek have to do downtimes to keep their servers from running slow (that is much slower than they are atm) 11am-1 pm is right in the middle of the time when americans are logging off in their timezone, and we the euros are logging on, in fact the majority of people at 11 am are at work as I will be in the next couple of hours, and all the yanks will be asleep, so from crypteks standpoint, this is the best time for them to do downtimes, and I agree with them, as I am sure a lot of others do on here, they have to please the majority not the minority, as they cannot make everyone happy, to quote vulcans, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. many people are fine with server downtimes, whereas you, the minority complain about it, adapt or dont play.

ahhh actually I am wrong on that one, it was the wreckage timers that got put up for 30 minutes or whatever

I think it is more a case of the fact that the Europeans are being shafted week in week out, every Scheduled maintenance period is during European time, the U.S. only gets unscheduled maintenance (i.e. crashes / major bugs appearing etc. etc.), the number of threads on this subject now and Cryptics inability to appreciate that people that work all week only really have the weekends to play is the most annoying part of this I think.

And people whose timezone would be affected by a move of maintenance time will obviously say that the maintenance is o.k. for fear of it encroaching on their playtime, how funny it all is!

For god sake its only 2 hours go out do something else, Socialise with your family , watch a bit of TV go out into the big wide world

What would you rather have no down time and problems not get sorted, seriously getting PO with the moaning

Perhaps STO's forums should be renamed cry baby forums

And yes I am from the UK and the downtime does not bother me one bit

Yes all those unshedulled maintenances are anoying but it's more anoying to be disconected every 30 minutes or to see the server shuting down in the middle of a mission.

If those maintenances resolve the stability problem it's ok and if not... then we have the right to complain (we have already the right to complain about paying a beta game).

Not really an issue here either (just about to make the most of valentines day, possibly twice).

Though most of last week, I can't recall much (if any) downtime and I can't remember seeing any notification for downtime yesterday. Seems odd that nothing happens on weekdays. Maybe its double time on weekends. ;)

I was up late last weekend and a note went up at almost 1am about downtime scheduled for 11am - 1pm the next morning. Maybe there would be less complaints if people found out about the downtime before they go to bed.

You're right and speak a lot of sense in your second post, however nothing will make me feel any better about missing half my playtime today due to Cryptic favouring the US over the UK. It would be nice to just be able to log on at the weekend without having Crypic's game servers disctate when I can and can't play. I subscribe to Sky TV here so I'll watch that for a bit as long as Rupert Murdoch hasn't taken the Astra satellite offline for maintenence!

I understand where the OP is coming from, it can get a little annoying that the down time affects Europe more than the USA but that's just how life is I'm afraid. What is worse is the fact that the game costs more to play here in the UK than in the USA and we are still the ones that get affected by the down time.
