Is it just me or do people lack imaginations?
Back in the 'good old days' we were treated with horrible graphics (until the early 90's it wasn't even 3 dimensional, GASP! Imagine that some of you whiny kiddos!), midi sound effects, NO voice acting, no character 'customization', etc.
We had to use what was given us and our imaginations did the rest, so what's the problem with imagining that you are in the game. Do you need the game to simulate everything for you?
Perhaps they should create a pain peripheral that simulates pain on your character when they are hit with a disruptor. Or how about bathroom breaks during Warp? How about days of warp time for you realists between the Sol system and the neutral-zone?
Back in the days when people read books for entertainment (and some of us still do...), we had to imagine the world around us. I think some of that is lost with the current generation, having everything 'imagined' for them. Kids don't read books for entertainment, they play video games and watch movies. I remember playing Star Trek with my younger brother with star ships we created from cardboard, and we would have killed for something like STO!
So use your imagination if you think there is something missing, or quit.
Imagine that! You can quit playing!

I thought the older generations where supposed to be the ones that didn't complain as much... and here we have the guy who is complaining about complaining.
You sir are the ultimate hypocrite.
Oh and by the way, if you do get tired of reading the complaints, you can just quit reading the forums.
Imagine that.
Get off my lawn you kids! *pokes with a cane*
Anyway, I have to agree with the OP. Too many people complaining for everything and anything when they can just make it themselves.
Well yeah, there are always too many people complaining. However complaining about it doesn't help.
Complaining about complaining which is complaining about complaining doesn't help either.
However what makes me different than the OP is the fact that I didn't make a thread about it, I just responded to his.
Perhaps you should make a thread about it, for it may help in the long run.
Or we could just keep bumping this one, which is just as good.
Indeed, I rather like that idea.
Even in the late 80 and early 90 you didn't need to use your imagination, you forget the Sierra/Lucas Adventure games, Ultima,Bards Tale, Zork, Star Control, Wing Commander, Prince or Persia and X com to name of few that were full of imagination and immersion, no where did you have to insert your own imagination, all those games were late 80' early 90's titles.
Lets go back even further shall we? ATARI gaming console, Pac Man, Space Invaders, Pongo, Break out, Hunch Back etc, all very basic games from early 80's, none of which you had to use your imagination. The game play there and laid out before you. I think your mixing gaming up with your days sat at a table with your friends in the 1970's playing board game
