How to Live Off the Grid

1. Enter sector space.

2. Fly upwards until you hit the invisible wall.

3. Tilt the camera until your HUD hides most of the grid.

4. Sit back and enjoy the view, ignore those enemy signals, they can't touch you up here.

5. Relax as the vastness of space envelops you.

Well, the enemy signal contacts are freaking ANNOYING man. Horrible. If I want to fight I will fly towards one. I dont like being sucked into an instance if Im looking through my ships power tray.

Or hailing starfleet. Or writing a bug report (which you loose the report if you're nearly done and this happens).

So its useful to try and fly to the top of the map and off to the side before doing any of this stuff. I still wish they'd tone down the enemy signal contacts. Getting sucked into an instance in which you have absolutely no interest in interacting with is just a major bummer on all accounts.

Ah. ok, I get it now. The enemy contacts that suck you in are truly annoying. What I don't get is why some suck you in, while your ship actively avoids others. It seems inconsistent.

Yes you are right. Its about the only safe secure place from annoying as **** enemy signal contacts.

However if you want to examine your space power tray you have to do it in space. Because if you try it on the bridge it just gives you your ground power stuff.

But otherwise the bridge is as safe as it gets.

Is that what ALT F12 does? Im actually afriad to log on because people are loosing their stuff or whatever when they change instances.

Anyways, thanks for posting this stuff. I didnt know you could do that.... :)

    Alt+F12 just hides the HUD.

Unfortunately, you can only see the true universe from the top of sector space. Until the Cryptic Gods smile upon us and give an option to reveal it in all it's glory.

My enlightenment does not require the use of mind altering substances, brother.

Fly to the apex of the universe and you too shall see the light.

It is a nice way to actually feel like you're flying a starship in space. Sector space robs the game of any feelin of vastness or openness.

I learned to "fly high" (literally!) in Open Beta. Danged "Enemy Contacts That Suck You In Whether You Like It Or Not" are indeed annoying.

And Sector Space is just EverQuest zones re-imagined...breaks the immersive possibilities big time. :(

This one speaks the truth. I long for the day when Cryptic will free of us from the confines of The Grid.
