You can't right now. But you can transfer by listing an item on the exchange with one character and buying it with the other. This is not 100% safe though.

It is a bit safer when you use an item no one would ever buy for a high price, and make sure to right down the amount you put it up for.

guy a small Hypo spray, and then place it in the exchange for the amount you want to get from the other player, but change the last two numbers to something really odd, so you can be sure its your item you are buying,

Its very safe. You list a battery for like 100,000 and then log in with your old character and buy it. Whats the worst that could happen? Some fool comes in and buys your battery for 100,000 before you do?? Sweet because then you get an extra 100,000 for something worth nothing!

No, the danger is someone else comes in, sees this and lists a battery for 100,000. Then how can you be sure you're buying the right one? 50/50 chance you're about to give 100,000 to a stranger. And since the way the Exchange sorts is cryptic, *shrug*

(We had all sorts of conversations about transfer strategies in City of Heroes when they started their AH.)

The danger here is that it makes it quite obvious what you're doing, which makes the transaction easier to intercept.

Oh yea I guess someone could put up a price to try to trick you, at that point you just get back on your character and take down the item you were about to sell, no biggy... its just annoying

Can you join the same Fleet with two of your characters and just put the money in the Fleet bank?

The other thing you can do is just spend all your money on stuff you want and is on the exchange at a fair price. The email the items to yourself. If need be re sell the items with your new account.

So when you hover over an item it does not tell you the name of the seller? I have never actually looked...

Hah, never even thought of this. But like you said. oh well if they are stupid enough to buy a small hypo for 700k its a win/win for you. You still get your money traded and you didn't have to lose any money off your main.

And the other way around this is if you put up a hypo for 100,000, then log in with your old char and see 2 hypos for 100,000 just dont buy either. Log out and back in with your new char and change the item. Keep doing that until you get 1 worthless item for 100,000. That way you know its yours.

Thats not the problem here... the problem is that someone intentionally puts up another small hypo at 700k and you mistakenly buy the wrong one.

Also lets say you want to move 100,000, dont make it that exact ammount. Put a hypo up for 99,974, that way you know its yours for sure. If you see 2 hypos for 99,974 you know some one is trying to rip you off and you just dont buy either and go back and change the item.

Which works if there's only one page. If there are many pages of hypos, the chance of making a mistake is much higher.

He's saying gold farmers (RMT) use mail as a method to pass money around in games that allow money in mail.

But this game does not allow money in mail right? So what does that have to do with this topic?

The safest way to do this would be to sell a customized bridge officer of an odd amount of money. The chances that someone would be able to customize the same tipe of bridge officer and get it up there for the same amount you choose in the 3 mins at most it would take you to log out and back in with your old char are almost impossible.
