... ok 140 credits spent.... and now, what to do with this tiny, vulnerable ship?

What is it used for?!

(tbh I really thought, you could "eqiup" the Runabout as a little "pet" which aids attacking - this would be cool!)

Runabouts currently are just bragging rights. You know, tricked-out bling. Your very own status symbol showing off to everyone that you have credits to burn and don't they eny your very own runabout (what river are you going to name it after?)

In the future, runabouts may be given a special feature, such as traveling through sector space more quickly and without chance of interuption. A nice way to get from Starbase to starbase, perhaps.

It's a money sink and one of the only ones unless you want to try to buy your way through memory alpha. It's sad that this is one of the only things you can buy in game, almost anything you could ever want or need is found on exploration and pvp badges or as mission rewards imo.

I hope they make missions specific for it. That'd be absolutely awesome.

eg Endgame raids in an asteroid belt which is so dangerous you can't take a starship into, so all players need a runabout.

i take her for a spin every now and then and occasionally get a WTF?!!! in Deep Space Encounters but yeah, they serve no real purpose.

btw, anyone else have the problem of not being able to rename their Runabout?

lol the runabout is great fun....refit her with your highest gear and she will go toe to toe with birds of prey...I went in to the star base 24 map with my runabout refit with captain gear and I had a blast....granted I had to do some hit and run tactics....but I ended up in 5th place:o

However...please be aware that getting a runabout comes at a steep price at the moment.....It is bugged

Your energy weapons and shields...will all be nerfed after piloting this wonderfully fun craft....I mean all of your ships will be affected by this bug....please read other posts about this problem before you decide to have fun in such a tiny super fun ship.

I can't wait until they fix this bug...I so want to pilot my runabout again....cheers

They won't be nerfed it's just a tooltip bug, The stats remain as they were before. It's the same bug you get sometime when you see Cruiser HP stats for Shields on an escort but when you go to stats you see the real amount.

Might as well and buy it for some fun. The creds are piling up with nothing to spend it on. Maybe they should have left the whole energy credit system out of the game. it would have spared the player base the typical gold spamming & over-priced exchange prices.

Actually Runabouts are useful in one practical way: you can use them to play with low level friends. Because your damage and shields are basically halved in a Runabout, plus you have only two weapons slots, you can team up with a lowbie and still have it be a challenge.

Also even without a low level friend if you want to do any low level content, using a Runabout basically scales you down to that level.
