- Daily Quests - Have all Daily Missions reset at a fixed time (I.E. 4 AM PST), this will avoid the frustration of having to do the quest later and later each successive day.
- Daily Quests - Add a quest whose random reward would include a Bridge Officer from time to time, because at the moment, Admirals can no longer gain B.O.s once they reach 45.
- Random Bridge officers - Have them come with trained skills (very rarerly) I.E. Rapid Fire III, Engineering Team III ect.... that way everyone has a chance (albeit a very small one) to further costomise their B.O..
- Fleet Actions - Have them level with the players, divided in brackets, with the reward system a daily quest, so the user can get 1 blue (maybe with a very low chance of a purple) per day per fleet actions.
So thats 1 blue per Fleet Action per day...
Add lesser rewards for repeated attempts (Greens).
- Add durability to ship components: after X number of deaths (say 20 or so) you have to go to a drydock for a quick tune up... (wether or not theres an energy cost would have to be determined) and please dont force players to fly precicely inside the drydock... because theres always the griefer that would clog it on purpose with his ship.
Failing to repair after the ship exeeds its number of death would induce some penality (whose severity would have to be determined), that way if you have a broken down impulse engine you can still limp around). And add some BO or maybe even player skill Skill that can cast a buff to mitigate the penality (for very challenging raid content where players would die alot in a single encounter)
- Genesis Engine Improvement Suggestions.
- Have some "coolness" factor added, heres a few examples:
1: In completely abandoned facilities... add dust on the floors and cobwebs on the walls, vermin running around, have the lighting defectuous (blinking lights), if it was abandonned because of an emergency have some half broken alarm lights, broken down support beams on the floor. If it was Abandonned because of an attack add dessicated corpses / skeletons on the floor with scorch marks from weapons fire etc...
2: Abandonned Facilities - Remove the very unrealistic solid surface meant to "look" like a cone of light around light sources.
3: Abandonned Facilities - Add some variety: - I.E. Scanning Around an abandonned facility where illegal Borg related research was made, you accidently activate a maturation chamber and a drone emerges... sometimes to attack... sometimes to be liberated... sometimes already dead... make it interesting.
4: Civilian base rescues - If there are hull breaches .... have holes with air flowing TOWARDS the cracks (not away from them, the vacuum is outside after all)... have some personel / repair drones that looks like its trying to fix things... Have damage appear on the walls, broken computers etc.. Add Environmental risks... fire, depressurising counduits, falling supports, ground tremors etc...
5: Civilian Base Rescue - If its an hostage rescue have some scientists/ civilians been held hostage (great potential for future diplomacy options there), have the attacker do something besides running in circles, scientists / engineers seemingly trying to hack in the databases while been guarded by troups in a defensive formation around them.
6: Civilian / abandonned bases - have the interior match the race it belongs to (when appropriate) Ive never seen a Cardassian base with a Cardassian interior design.
7: Mining Facilities - Sometimes have the user venture in the mines for reasons that are in line with the mission.
8: The Scan the meteorites missions (and the likes) - Similar the the above suggestion have scientists/enginneers hammering at the rock for samples / scanning the rocks while there guarded by tactical officers, have guard patrol the perimeter in teams around the precious ore anything but the "run around like beheaded chickens" animation.
9: Scan the flora / artifacts mission - Add curious bystanders / worried authorities guarding the things / some wildlife... primitive indeginous people that have to be avoided (prime directive) or conquered / impressed or maybe even hunted (Klingons).
10: Scan the anomalies - Graphical improvements for the space missions... instead (or maybe on top of) of the usual dust cloud, box, rock ect... add some variety and scope... like a large field of crackling / undulating / whatever energy (of many different type), a broken ship etc, and abandonned base with "Technological anomalies" etc...
11: Scan the anomalies - Add some variety in the mission type, with a nice twist... I.E. instead of always scan 5 small anomalies, from time to time you have to analyse a comet, a crystaline entity youngling, (and I know that the graphic for those already exists), unexpected stuff... (have an anomaly turn out to be a wormhole mouth, then the user can scan the interior / rescue a trapped ship / discovers where it leads maybe even go to the other side and scan anomalies there).
Thats all I can think of for the moment, please take these in consideration, feel free to expand those idea to make this game a richer experience.
At the moment in exploration... the challenge increases in proportion to the number of players, so to promote socialising and grouping increase reward in proportion to the size of the group as well, and im not talking about just getting more points / medals but the occasional peice of loot too.
- Diplomacy Missions:
Add interaction with NPC's in the game. Provide different outcomes for each reply. Example:
(During exploration) An encounter with a ship belonging to X race occurs in deep space. The ship does not start shooting at the player like 99,99% of the time but hails you instead. The alien captain claims that this part of space belongs to his race and that you are trespassing. Player says that he/she needs to pass through for Y reason so:
a. Informs the alien captain that he is on a peaceful mission of exploration and suggets a compromise, say, to be escorted through race X's space:
Outcome 1--> Due to their hostile nature they charge weapons and attack. (===> Space battle)
Outcome 2--> They seem hesitant at first but they say they will be willing to discuss this in person.
b. At this point, the player can choose to attack, refuse and leave (cancel the mission), or drop shields and power down weapons and invite the alien captain over for dinner.
Outcome 1---> As soon as the player lowers shields, the alien captain beams a boarding party. (Ground combat)
Outcome 2:---> The alien captian beams over to the player's bridge (some use for it would be nice), introduces himself and after a short dialogue , successful first contact (end mission)
I hope you see my point here. Interaction. Imho it would make the quests a ton more interesting.
Some very good suggestins there from the OP, I really enjoyed reading about your ideas.
If they would add thisto the game it would suddenly become alot more interresting to play.
Keep the ideas comming, I sincerely hope Cryptic will lookt at this and at least try to add it.
The game is perfect as is and never needs to be changed. When God created perfect he proclaimed, "let eth there be Spacebar Online." and so it was done. And he rested on the 7th day and destructord some klingons nubs in pvp.
- Background space inspired by actual Hubble Telescope pictures.
- Sound track from the movies and series to add some variety.
- Terraforming missions: This would take the form of a daily or repeatable quests, players can choose 1 of several possible missions (i.e. gather material that will promote plant life X, or plant life Y, or plant life Z give us alot of choices! ) the world would slowly change in accordance with player actions.... and the quest rewards or vendor inventory would depend on the type of world... basically giving the Genesis engine an nudge towards creating a world of a particular type.
The changes could be aplied during the weekly maintenance, that way it would colve the problem of ppls been online when the world is scheduled to change.
For Example... ppls push alot towards a Pine Forest world... the rewards would be type X shields and Type Y weapons.... then enough players make choices of a diferent kind, the world shifts to a tropical setting or desert setting.... the reward type would change in accordance: different shields, different weapons, say Polaron or Tetryon, he base stats (shield str/ weapon DPS) would remain the same.
It could be divided in the usual bracket range (per ranks) and the general quality of the items would have to be determined.
This would permit players to have an impact on the game and have nice rewards.

And you are an illiterate idiot, stop flailing your arms around the keyboard writing nonsense and start thinking about how your days are going to end when you are 70 years old and alone in a corner.
Now that I have you attention, if you have nothing better to say then that s**t, just please don't post here you blatant troll.
EDIT: Oh and I agree with the latest addition from Mirddin. Those are all just good suggestion.
In response to the title; havent read the thread;
DONT READ THE FORUMS
Although that may be a bit too late if you are reading this
Now, to respond to you, first off... Did you mistake this thread for another one? Are you completely illiterate? Or you just enjoy stupidly not making sense?
In any case, you should consider yourself a troll and stop posting in this thread, the ideas portrayed here are intelligently(unlike your post) displayed and could be a wonderful addition to the STO experience. Quite the contrary of your brain-ninjaing, troll ranting and somewhat nerd raging post.
kthxbai,
With love, Nox.
EDIT: Sorry for the double posts but I just had to fend off this thread from potential trolling because it should not be allowed anywhere but yet it is... Inevitable.
Don't feed the trolls folks; this thread for one seems to be a good one with lots of good comments and only 2 trolls. If you feed them, though, they will multiply and then THIS thread will degenerate like the rest.
I like most of the ideas listed, but one I don't is setting the time for daily missions at 4pm pst. Many people for various reasons can't play at that time, so that would be depriving them of daily missions. Floating missions that cover all times would probably be better. Or multiple missions. Actually, what I'd like to see are daily missions which actually affect the game universe, but I don't see THAT happening any time soon <G>.
but one I don't is setting the time for daily missions at 4pm pst. <G>.
the time can be like every day when they do pacth in the morning or some thing it just means u dont do it later every day and then skip a day cause u need to wait at 12 am to do it
