Memory Alpha needs changess

First of all thanks for reducing the amount to unlock the second tier vendors.

With that out of the way, I am seeing issues with Memory Alpha that is going to drive players away within a few months.
  • To unlock the third tier vendor requires way to much in energy. 7k -> 100k, severely unbalanced.
  • Mk IV, VI, VIII, X common items are really rare to find in drop. Surprising for a common item, as it name dictates that is regularly available. We already have enough trying to find all the samples, not to make it worse by having us try and find drops to complete the item. Either remove the common item, or add vendors. -- Eventually RMT's will exploit these items for their illegal ventures.---
  • Quests should be added when a player unlocks a new vendor, even if there is no reward, at least a heads up, kind of like the Commander Balt quest from Quinn. Didn't get any sp from it, but I was lead to someone to answer my questions of rank and grade.

The inability to find most of the Mk IV space weapons is just pushing me further and further away from Memory Alpha. I checked everywhere I possibly could, and even had help from a player higher level then myself check both the fed and klingon stations.

Within a few months the RMT's will figure out that M-A requires drop items to complete upgrades and we will see items like the Plasma Beam Array Mk IV selling for 1.2 million.

    I'd certainly like to see:

*A status indocator of how close I am to unlocking the next tier

*Some flexability in what I can upgrade

I got such a late start to use memory alpha that i don't even bother cause I had no use for the tier 1 or 2 stuff to begin with now and I think it's too stupid to even bother with it, this isn't crafting anyway. I can't even see what it would have that i would want from it anyway. I just sell my the data samples stuff now and make a good profit.

You said it a progress bar in ui or on bottom of opened window would be rockstar.
I'm now lvl Commander lvl 6 and still havent got past the first teir they need to do some more serious fixing then lowering the ammount needed.

I agree on all counts. Additionally, I think Lt. Romaine, the first contact, should be back on Sol Base at first and then direct you to Memory Alpha when you meet her requirement. It would ease a new player's transition so they aren't treking around a higher level Romulan zone out of the story-line's order. Plus, getting pulled into a Deep Space Encounter in the Alpha Centauri sector when you first get the Memory Alpha mission is quite painful.

I completely agree that Romaine should be in Sol, getting sucked into a DS encounter with +10 or better ships isn't very productive (happened to me). Actually, this is a topic for another thread, but the encounters need to be redone as well. I got sucked into an encounter as I left a system. I didn't even get to see the sector view, I simply saw two loading screens.

As for the other posting about it not being crafting, that would be correct. I think M-A should drop the physical item and use only samples and craft a new item from scratch.

The crafting system is awful at the moment.

It's not a crafting system. Its an upgrade system which is seriously out of balance. I saw on the markets today people now selling stuff from Memory Alpha for big energy, and no common level items available.

My name is BillytheCrayon, and I 100 percent undoubtably approve of this message!!!

Also, I remember reading a post or an ask cryptic or something where cryptic says crafting is not gonna be like in traditional mmo's where you craft a whole bunch of these things to be able to make the next bunch of things, and that it is not gonna feel grindy or feel like farming. And what do I end up doing??? Farming out a whole crapload of data samples so I can get to Tier 2 crafting. I am at the rank of Captain Grade 3 and I am still at Tier 1 farming... I mean crafting. I have made a cargo hold full of phaser arrays, and personal shields, and hundreds of large hyposprays and large power cells and the teir 2 guys still won't talk to me, and I have no idea how much farther I have to go. This is by far the worst crafting system I've seen in an MMO, and have decided to say forget it until they make it the way they originally intended crafting to be.

The "common" level weapons are available for sale at Sol, second floor of the shipyard. The currency is exploration badges though.
