STO & Ally Bank. More in common than you think.

I'm sure some of you all have seen those Ally Bank (which is actually just a renamed GMAC bank *spit*) commercials on TV, and it just struck me that STO and Ally have a lot in common. For example..

One Ally Bank commercial has the banker letting a girl ride a bike; the bike is enclosed in a very small square on the ground. When the girl tries to ride the bike, the banker stops her and informs her that if she wants to take the bike outside of the square, he will have to charge her. Her response is "you can't really ride the bike inside the small square." The banker replies, "well, you cant ride very far." Well, with STO, it's "you can't really play with the unstable servers." Cryptic's response: "Well, you can't play very long."

Another commercial has the banker talking to two girls sitting at a table. He asks the first girl if she wants a pony. Of course she says yes and he hands her a plastic toy pony. He then asks the other girl if she wants a pony. When she replies in the affirmative, he brings out a real pony. The first girl, obviously upset that she got ripped off, says, "you didn't say I could have a *real* pony." The banker's response is "well, you didn't ask." With STO, we thought we were getting a playable MMO, but apparently we got ripped off with an unplayable MMO. I guess perhaps we should have asked.

And finally, there's another one with a boy who is offered a truck. After about a minute, the banker takes it away and hands him a cut-out cardboard replica of a truck that the banker made himself. The boy's response is merely "what a piece of junk." Sorry Cryptic, but STO is currently a cardboard cut-out of an MMO. What a piece of junk.

Can't play very long? I log in ten, eleven hours a day. Every day. That's not long?

Not playable? What the hell was I doing for ten, eleven hours a day? NOT playing STO?

    I'm confused....

From my experience, this disclaimer supports your case: "Results not typical." You have probably seen that on some weight-loss product or exercise equipment commercials.

From my experience, and the experience of every one of my Fleet members, I'd have to say that disclaimer supports YOUR case, not mine.

Treat people like children, they will take on that role, it is actually a well know control mechanism. It is also why many leaders try to get that 'father' feeling and control. It is an advanced marketing ploy.

I actually do not like that commercial, some how I got a hunch someone making that commercial likes to think of much of society as children, which is also a common superiority thought.

But I get your point, the game currently is missing alot that could be expected, and Cryptic seems to have a ways to go to get the game to a state that makes more sense.

Seems they are working on it though.

While I was only able to stay connected for a half hour today, that's no fault of Cryptic's. I'm at work, and on a shaky ISP. During my three week vacation that ended far too shortly this morning at 6am, I was able to amass a huge amount of play time, the last week being especially stable. People need to quit blaming Cryptic and start looking at your own computer and ISP for the real problem.
