I usually don't come here complaining. But after the last two days I am so frustrated I wanna choke the life out of someone. I beta tested a Cryptic game called Gods and Heroes few years ago while I was waiting for McQuaid and Co. to work out the major bugs in Vanguard. The game was only around 30% done or so but it played better at 30% that Vanguard did at release. So when they shut down the servers of Gods and Heroes and went to work full time on STO I was really excited. back in Nov. I was chatting up STO and Cryptic to my buddies who were playing Eq2 telling them how awesome this game should be. Now every time I log into vent all I catch is **** because of the **** poor performance from Cryptic on this launch. I had over 10 people from different games come here to play STO and Cryptic you have let me down. You may not care that your gonna lose the monthlys from 11 people, but I doubt it will only be 11 of us. Thanks for making me look bad.

Thats a good point saying that its been stable all week, because it has. And Im seeing it improve as time goes by.
Unfortunately we're still not past the whole "weekend crash" thing. I think about it some during the week, " I wonder how much play time I'll get this weekend? I wonder how often the servers will crash".
Because they do crash. Every weekend. Will it crash next weekend? Probably.
But its new. And its fun. And it works most of the time. So its not the end of the world.
Please stop choking th forums with useless threads.
The forums is all we have when the game is down and we don't need a hundred threads about this. Tthe last thing we need is masses of people submitting new threads (which causes thousands of more server requests as people click on them).
I don't understand why people think their personal frustration deserves an entire thread. Do you run out in the street screaming when your car won't start? Grow up.
Picard: When was the last time we aligned the torque sensors?
Perim: Two months ago, sir.
Picard: They don't sound right.
LaForge: The torque sensors are fine, but there's a whine coming from the forums. You could hear that?
Picard: When I was an Ensign, I'd have them banned before they'd even hit "submit".

yea, its has been stable, and it's getting better, they must be new to MMO launches, they said they play EQ2. Now I haven't played it, but I did have a few friends at launch, and they said it was having the same problems. but from my experience if you think this is bad, try three days of not being able to play, that game was SWG, and If I remember right we didn't get any free time or anything. in fact the only one I remember that we got free time was WOW, and that was because we couldn't play a stable game for for two and a half weeks.
also sorry for any spelling mistakes, I'm down with the flu, and I can only post on my black berry.
In 1999, MMOs were a new creation. Nobody had any idea how to manage lag on servers. Servers were constantly a problem. Its not 1999 any longer. More than 10 years later there are a lot of successful MMOs on the market and the industry generally knows what its technological needs are to maintain a certain number of gamers on a server. The gaming industry has a decade of experience balancing and running servers for large groups of people. Given that, I feel it is not unrealistic for customers to expect more these days. Brushing server issues under the table with the old 'its an MMO launch, get over it' argument doesnt fly like it used to. And it is surprising to see people wanting to continue to give it a free pass. MMOs that launch today should be better prepared after more than a decade of learning how to do their business. It seems like a fair customer expectation for the servers to be up and running in prime game play windows.

This would be true in this case, but Cryptic expected 200,000 people, max. They have a million. You really think that you should buy enough equipment to handle 5x your projections, or more?

They have a million FREE ACCOUNTS that have been registered. That doesnt mean a million people who subscribe to the game. Chances are, only half of the people who registered on the forums actually played, if that many.
I'm just posting to say....keep it up guys...there are some cool and funny posts...at least it's a good way to pass the time when the server has UNEXPECTED DOWN TIME cough cough ....crash...cough cough

By any objective measure, STO has had a relatively stable launch. Down time below 10%. 120 or so hours of content delivered (although by not reading quest text it appears some people can drop content time down to 60 hours or so, which is why some games put in cut scenes that cannot be gotten around). A steady stream of bug fixes. New content already rolled out with plans for 45 day release and hints at further releases.
Here it is a case of you educated your friends, who are likely noobs to the who MMO experience, of what is normal and what they get. It is like you ordered filet minon rare, and got a nice piece but are mad it is red in the middle. Learning that red means rare is part of the process of understanding and enjoying a steak.

Wlecome to that that is known as MMO forums. Complaints about things happen plain and simple and another reply about complaints isnt really necessary

We are now going to point and laugh at you because we disagree with your unrealistic expectations
hahahahaha - we laugh we laugh
If you think its useless, then dont reply. Every time you do you only bump it back to the top of the forum, defeating your own argument.

Just in case.
LOL, even better! That way when I prove you wrong I dont even have to bother with you trying to argue the point

I find this reaction healthy and in no way in need of any form of therapy or medication.
MMO games are the most serious of businesses.
