I think I know why the server crashes so often... In addition to the recent Guinness world record attempt, Cryptic is attempting another new world record for number of server crashes within the few first weeks upon the release of an MMO.

This is why we do not post our thoughts online...........
It is better to have people think you are a fool than to post in a forum to confirm this.
I think its because they havn't really added more server hardware. They are waiting to see how many subs the end up with at the end of the free month. Then they will order more servers if they even need to. I'ts looking like alot of people are going to leave at this point.

And on what do you base this statement? Who is leaving and why?
I guess you simply have no grasp on the concept of how enormously complex a system like this is to run. There are numerous outside factors that can contribute to downtime that have nothing to do with the servers. One comes to mind that had plagued WoW for months, and that is a lousey ISP. People moaned and whined just like you are now because they had to wait in que's for hours to even get on only to be bumped off. There are also router issues that can cause similar issues.. The list goes on and on.
Perhaps it's better to be more supportive than complain so much. Yes, I was at the very end of a mission that was taking forever.. Last kill, down to 25%, then poof. Oh well, things happen. I wasn't happy about it, but I'm not going to cry about people leaving. So far things have been relatively stable all things considered. I do however think that they were ill prepared for the enormous number of people that signed up. This is something that can be a nightmare, being too popular. Considering the circumstances, I think thet've done rather well keeping things going.

Ironically WoW may actually hold this record. I would have to check.

The Dev Tracker is your Friend. Coderanger not only confirmed the new hardware but it would seem that some of the new machines are defective and have been causing problems. Which is really no surprise.

And if the game were running, we'd be playing instead of reading your words of wisdom. Me? I'd rather be playing...

I'm not sure which is more foolish, my original post or your apparent imperception that my original post was a joke.
Not even close... by light years.
SWG was down for at least the first 2 days. And by down I mean completely down. No log in for almost 48 hours after "launch" day.
Hidden under every joke is some form of "truth". Unfortunately, your joke wasn't funny, and your "truth" was far from true.
That record is held by world of crashcraft....

Unfortunately, I don't care...
So... why did you post? (BTW I think you mean "fortunately"... well unless you're upset about it...)
I was frustrated about a recent server crash, and decided to vent this by posting a sarcastic remark.
