Server Going Down Near the Very End of an Episode Sucks

Nothing ****es me off more about STO than the constant server instability. It's really nice doing Briar Patch, to be a few minutes from completion, only to get disconnected and find out the whole server went down. Those of you who've done Briar Patch know how bad this sucks. Those who haven't, imagine spending 40 minutes on something and the server crashing, now making that time wasted, especially when you get the bulk of your SP from mission completion.

I don't have much to complain about Cryptic. The game is fun, but not fun enough to put up with this constant instability and not fun enough to redo content constantly for no reward due to server instability. Well there went 40 min of my day all for nothing, and Cryptic probably doesn't give a **** and won't compensate for it.

As bad as a game I think AION was, they didn't split us up in small little instances, yet with 100's of people standing on top of each other on launch day, there wasn't any server crashes. Imagine that.

Just curious, if the power went out at your place, right when you were finishing an episode mission, would they compensate you?

Hah! The AION launch for americans was after like I think 1-3 years of being live in the asians markets. So... server stability for that game isn't real impressive since it had already been live for a while in other countries.

i was fighting the boss of a long quest when the server went down and while it is annoying, these types of things happen in MMOs

on the positive side when I do the quest again it's like double the skill points!! :D

Okay, I also was there for launch day AoC and WAR. Both games didn't crash. Some people DC'd, but not the entire server. For Pete's sake people, don't stand there and act like you work for the company. A fault is a fault. No reason to defend their faults. I'm good enough to compliment Cryptic when they deserve it, so they should be good enough to take criticism when it's deserved.

I wasn't acting like I work for the company, nor was I defending them at all. I was simply pointing out that your example was really flawed.

And your list of MMO launches isn't that impressive. I've been part of the launches of EQ, WoW, Eve, CoH, CO, DAoC, WAR, SWG, Planetside..... I could go on. And yes, Cryptics two latest games (CO and STO) have been some of the worst launches I've been a part of.
