With a game as lacking as STO Cryptic should be going out of their way to make the customers as happy as they possibly can by offering the following:
1. At least as many character slots as their competition in the mmo market, the bare minimum should be 4, this allows you to make all 3 classes + the Klingon.
2. Easy way of respecing your character as everyone will have made a mistake, they sould really look at WOW model for this, it makes the game much more enjoyable.
3.. All races playable out of the box.
Instead these option are all available by spending more money (sure respecs and char slots are not here yet but watch this space). It's things like that that can just push the player over the edge to cancel, I am living proof of this as I may have thought twice had these options been available but they just made me more negative about STO and pushed me to quit.

only thing that should come from WOW is the huge game world, nothing else, and even they werent the first to do that.

Last time I checked you had to buy The Burning Crusade to play as Blood Elves and Draenai.
Oh, and as for respecs, if you actually took the time to read the forums before posting, you would know that Cryptic decided to cap skill points just before launch. This means that the respec system is not implemented yet. Cryptic has also said that it is coming, for free, as an un-lockable feature.

I've seen about 5 MMO's launch, and this has to be one of the WORST launches I have *EVER* seen. There's no way I'm going to be dropping $16/month on this if the stability of the game does not improve. It's been over a week now since they started went "live" (if that term can even be applied here).
I remember WoW's launch. It had problems too. First night you would spend an hour trying to loot a corpse and the server would eventually crash. BUT! At least they were able to fix things and have a fairly stable server and game within a week.
And they want me to pay for more character slots and/or in-game items? What a crock. Sorry Cryptic, you are at best 4th rate in the MMO's right now. Maybe you should have left this game in alpha or beta until you could support more than 1 person on the Commodore 64's you've got running the servers.
Last time I checked you had to buy The Burning Crusade to play as Blood Elves and Draenai.
I smell a troll.
Yup, smells like bull **** around here.
Last time I checked Burning crusade was an expansion, lets talk about standard games.
Vanilla WOW v STO thats fair.
I smell excuses LOL PWND
BTW I just popped back to see how the community was doing and I see the forums are FULL of leaving threads and complaints, I am now going to say: "I TOLD YOU SO" I timed this well, I just noticed the server is down too, on a Saturday night LOL
Be more precise in your comments, read the source material before babbling due to your ignorance on the stuff that you are complaining about, and maybe you won't get slapped down for crying on the forums.
The only thing on that list that is offered up by most other MMOs and not STO is multiple character slots. I'd agree with having more. The other stuff? It's usually not offerred until a game's been out awhile.
So Vision, how's quitting the game working for you?

I am sorry but even wow now has MAJOR problems just coming out with patches.. and Yes I do still play wow and other mmo's.. Hell i remember when ulduar came out.. you couldnt even get into the dungion.. Or what about when wrath came out .. And they have been in busniess for alot ALOT longer than STO.. Peoples problem today is that it has to be done NOW NOW NOW.. and this to me is the problems with todays society.. All good things come in time. If you want to go QQ go back to wow and leave the game to those who have patients. 9

It's good, can't complain, been playing L4D2, don't understand why I am able to post on here mind, I just popped back tonight as I wondered how the game was doing, thats when I noticed the forums full of hate
It's wonderful when people compare the product that WoW is today, 5 1/2 years after release, to a game that just came out.
WoW didn't have all the features it has now when it came out.
Anyway, Klingons don't have a tutorial. They want to make sure you learn the game once before you play Klingons, so they have you play Federation. So you have to level up to 6, big deal. Your Klingon starts at 6, so it's not as if they don't give you the bonus levels for your work in getting there.
I definitely wish the Klingon tutorial was done too, the game has two sides, you should be able to start as either side. I agree with you. The game shouldn't be released yet. It should have had another year's worth of work done. As with Champion's, Mama pushed it out the door into the winter cold half dressed. But don't start saying WoW does this and that blah blah, when it didn't at release, when you have to buy multiple expansions to get it all, etc.
Definitely don't quote WoW's baby hand holding re-specs either. This game is easy enough without making it even easier, fixing every little mistake. You don't want a game, you want it to play Mother and spoil you.

But WoW has a huge seamless game world from the start, that is the only thing this is missing. That open world PvP. Gives more realism, more immersion.

Let me explain this simply so that someone with the limited brain power that you seem to have can understand it.
WoW launched with races. The number of options of races was fine, but the customization options were very limited. Cryptic launched with far more race possibilities and exponentially more customization options within them.
Blizzard offered no additional customization options until their expansion, with new races. Cryptic did, after launch, offer new customization options with two new races.
Cryptic already offered far more options, avatar wise, than Blizzard did. In addition to the abundant options,in comparison to WoW, they offered two more that you have the option to purchase.
Wow has barely any customization. STO has exponentially more options. STO also offers specialized options in addition.
Do you get it now, or do I have to repeat it all over again?

I never compared all of wows features, only 3 lol
And respecs are probably the reason I played wow for as long as I did, they allowed me to spend ages trying new specs on all my classes, it's a game retainer and Cryptic should be adding as many of these things as possible to stop the exodus. If Blizzard charged me or made them very difficult to obtain i would have left long before 5 years, same with the character slots.
Fact is gentlmen and ladies, STO is leaking subs left, right and centre, infact it won;t have many players at all in 3 months time at this rate and you all know it. Cryptic need to plug the hole and fast, selling things the players should have out the box is only making this worse.....read the forums, I have only been back an hour and have read loads of I QUIT threads because of this very reason.... it's not me trolling it's me talking F A C T S.

We just need a seamless environment instead of all these instance load screens. That would improve it dramatically. The only load screens should be the away teams. Ground combat has different game mechanics so its only natural. The options you have here are pretty cool though i would have to admit.
Yes and those same people that say I quit have mentioned it like 5 million times acting like cryptic will beg plead and give them free game time if they complain and quit.. I'm sorry but even if a good majoraty of the barrens children go back to wow they will still have many that will stay.
I am not saying that all people that are quitting are those mentioned above. But usually the ones that are not just quit without announcing it to the world. Could be just me but if I decide I dont like this game.. I will just leave and continue to play my other MMO.. LOTRO.. WOW on occasion that I feel up to it.

If you want a game that runs perfect then wait for a year before getting it rather than trying new games that always have bugs at the start. This is no diffrent that any other mmorpg that was just released. Anyway if you quit why are you posting here, just to troll?

I never mentioned bugs or game running issues, my STO ran perfectly, I am just saying that Cryptic are losing customers by being greedy, thats all am saying.
i'm pretty sure the only reason i decided to play an MMO and chose this one was because it does not completely rip off WoW which is what most other MMOs do. If WoW wasn't so terrible it wouldn't be a bad thing but STO is going good in my book
People say STO is bleeding accounts, but the truth is, it only appears that way because mostly only the whiners create threads. People who raged so hard that they had to post about their leaving.
The people who enjoy the game are too busy ... enjoying it.
I know of over 15 people that quit from a top 400 WoW guild to play STO, and they are all preparing for end game.
You need to think beyond QQ posts before you generalize to the point of saying, "everyone is canceling their STO accounts". Sure, some are, but conversely people are also signing up. Until we have actual numbers, it's all just speculation.
Unfortunately, only the whiners are seen creating QQ threads. Well, maybe the odd praise thread pops up, too ...
With a game as lacking as STO Cryptic should be going out of their way to make the customers as happy as they possibly can by offering the following:

1, I kind of agree with, but it's not a HUGE deal to me.
2. They are working on respecing. I'm sure the first one wil lbe free. And IIRC they said there would be some way to do it in game at no RL cost. It just takes time. And frankly, alot of game work that way. COH did... Asherons call back in the day didn't have ANY way to respec at all, period, for like the first 5 years or so...
3. Nah. CoH, has unloackable AT's, and i kind of like that. A goal to work towards. PAYING for them.. eh, don't really dig that, but it's not a deal braker for me, and in all honesty, so long as they are cheap, it could be a good way to make some side revinue for the game, without being overly burdensome to the player base. If you want to play that race, it'll cost you a few bucks, but the game iteself is still open and easily playable with what you have. *shrug*
Nah, none of what list really bothers me all to much .

Oh wait, they don't.
Considering how little impact the race has anyway, is this really something worth making a song and dance over?
guess you must be angling for a bonus from your Blizzard paymasters eh?
Lets compare this to vanilla wow, you can't use expansions, thats stupid.
