With negative posts daily its clear this game is a failure

At this point STO is a failure. It will be dumping a large % of its unpaid subs (free 1st month came with game) and I imagine the supposed million copies sold still have a whole bunch of unredeemed retail keys out there that people are holding to resell. This game is getting bashed daily on its own forums and fights breaking out between the fan-boys and people who feel cheated. All the while Cryptic stands by counting the green and promising new content. It shall be interested the see where this game goes in the next 2-3 months. I refuse to pay $14.99 for another month of boredom, I made Commander 1 in a week, downloaded EVE Online based off a post on here and haven't touched STO since. I never played EVE before and I can only imagine what STO would have been like if they had sold the IP to EVE's maker CCP. Undoubtedly an awesome game but oh well! Like my 6 mo CO sub that has sat largely unused (24hrs total playtime since launch) Cryptic games tend to get a few days/weeks play then get relegated to the dust bin. I suppose I shouldn't have given Cryptic the benefit of the doubt the 2nd time around with STO but lesson learned!

Negative posts are common.. its because people who like to complain are more vocal than the people who enjoy the game. There ARE bugs, and that isnt uncommon at all for a new MMO.

these forums are pretty mild compared to other mmo's i've played at launch.

i heard wow forums were among the worst at launch, and wow forums are famous for people still complaining about one thing or another they they believe will make wow fail.

Posts like this always remind me of the DOOOOOOM posts, predicting the same thing after any change in a game. "I personally don't like it, therefore DOOOOOOOOM for all!"

    LOL

    Peace out.

Try reading some other games' forums. You have a serious lesson to learn about the internet, and the curse of anonymity.

Really, who gives a rat's ***? Negative posts are pretty common everywhere, especially at a launch because of the amount of people trying it and the fact that all games are released early (= lots of bugs).

As far as Eve goes, yes, PCLamer did give it MMO of the year this year, and from what I read, they have made some vast improvements. It's also been out for 5+ years and at launch, the same PCLamer gave it a score in the low 50's (out of 100).

I agree the STO needs a lot of work, but that just the way things are in the gaming world. Only time will tell if things will improve.

I don't have a problem if you want to play an older less popular MMO. Everyone's likes and dislikes are different. But what is hilarious to me is the number of people who claim to not like the game but yet can't tear themselves away from the community.

People who really don't like a game go to something they do like and don't post in the forums. It is amazing to watch how quickly posts are disappearing down the pages of the forums as new posts are made. The activity on these forums is a great indicator of exactly how very successful STO seems to have been so far.

Lol... there isn't a game forum in existence that isn't a complain-o-rama. It mean nothing.... It's just people being (whiny) people :P

HAHAHA you can never judge a game by the forums and here is why. 1 million subscribers and what 4,000 posts in general gameplay that tells ya there is about less than 1% of people are actually part of the forums. Usually the forums is the place where people want to help others or the very opposite they just want to ***** because they have low end machines and/or they try to live in a perfect world where nothing is ever perfect hence the game is a failure to them.

At this point posting is a failure.

It will be dumping a large % of its unpaid thought and I imagine the supposed million threads posted still have a whole bunch of unredeemed viewers out there that people are hoping will necro. This practice is getting rehashed daily on the forums with fights breaking out between the fan-boys and people who cannot control their emotions. All the while Cryptic stands by counting the green and laughing at the plebeians. It shall be interesting the see where this thread goes in the next 2-3 seconds. I refuse to pay anything for another rehash of the same gripes, I made Commander 1 in a week, downloaded EVE Online based off a post on here and haven't been to bed since. I never played EVE before and I can only imagine what STO would have been like if they let me design the game. Undoubtedly an awesome game but oh well! Like my sexual drive that has sat largely unused (24 seconds total playtime since birth) Cryptic games tend to get a few days/weeks play then I lose interest like a bug in the bright lights. I suppose I shouldn't have given Cryptic the benefit of the doubt the 2nd time around with STO but I didn't learn my lesson and will now shout about it so than EVERYONE can learn teh troooth.

This must be your first MMO. Try looking at the forums of any MMO out there and all you find is people complaining on them. Eve is one of the worst and only second to the amount of people who complain on the WoW forums.

And I am so glad the developers of Eve did not get Star Trek. Eve is large empty zone with auto boring combat, no ground mode and wait... there is minnning lol

Stop your *****ing, I've played MMOs since 1999, and this is just how it is. They are patching new content already, they are fixing bugs, they are going through growing pains, and this is ALL to be expected with a new release of an MMO, if you can't deal with it and roll with the punches come back in a year.

I've played a lot of MMOs at release and this one in my book has already shown a lot of dev dedication, bug fixes in a short time (remember rubberbanding?) I don't see that like I used to.

So basicly the bottom line is STFU and let the mmo evolve over some time or get out. In my book based on years of comparative mmo releases they are doing a damn good job.

    Gezz, chill out

This could have been like Anarchy Online's release, or Asheron's Call when you got server rollbacks once a week, or it could be like EQ where it takes a year to lvl up and you cant do ANYTHING but grind mobs all day to lvl. Your acting like spoiled brats and you need to step back and realize that it takes time to get things in order. I remember when WoW was down all the time, and that was Blizzard even.

6 months from now if the servers crash every day, then you have reason to start groaning and moaning.

Actually I don't like to complain, I like to play good MMO's.

If this one weren't crashing so often, I'd be playing it instead of typing here on the forums. It's called Feedback. Positive or negative, it's how we express how we feel in an open forum.

What is really funny is if you go to the Eve off topic forums you get a ton of posts from people saying they are quitting Eve to play STO. And that they wish Eve was more like STO. That STO has everything Eve developers have been promising to do for 4 years and never delivered.

The game has some issues and Klingon side is not fully flushed out but it's still an amazing game. I really enjoy the game for the most part. Lost many hours of sleep over it so far :)

I feel the general quantity of positive posts has increased enormously since open beta, while lame posers of oblivion have decreased. At the same time, I expect people to keep all honest feedback flowing into Cryptic's grill indefinitely.

I'm there with you, I've waited for a game like this since ENB closed years ago. I've played every waking minute that I have not been working, and even then a bit, getting ready to start my 2nd Admiral toon today.

P.S. I hope respecs come out soon.

Not just MMO's, look at any public forum anywhere on the internet involving anything. Posters on the internet tend to skew negative, and some of them extremely hot-headed and dismissive of any point of view other than their own. Sometimes makes me pine for the olden days when computers were mysterious things sitting on the desk in an office somewhere you weren't allowed to touch.
