Here's my problem. I just hit LC 7. The past few levels have been really frustrating. The only episode type missions I have are level 9 or higher. One patrol mission I have says COM0. The explore missions and other defend / patrol missions are way below my level.

There are fleet actions at my level but these are the most frustrating part of the game. If I join a queue for a PvP match I end up sitting at my computer, just staring at the screen waiting for a pop up message to say the match is ready because I have nothing else to do.

When I try the Hostile Encounters, Crystiline Entity, or even random Enemy Signal Contacts, they are usually empty or maybe one other player. Often times I dont even have a chance to check other instances because as soon as you zone in, you are immediatly attacked by dozens of enemy ships because I'm the only one in the zone and the spawn in spot is right in the middle of all the bad guys.

So basically I spend all my time in-game just sitting in sector space, frustrated and wondering what the heck I should be doing. Episodes are above my level, explore and defend missions are way below. I have one patrol mission that is way above my level and all the fleet actions or pvp I have tried is an exercise in frustration as I wait in queues or get blasted to dust as soon as I enter an empty zone.

I really do want to like this game but I do not want to grind XP. What am I missing??

Thanks for any advice.

I really want to like this game and I do enjoy the space combat a lot. My issue is that I am having a really hard time finding content for my level and it is already feeling like a grind. An MMO should keep you moving with fun content so you don't even think about XP or have to search for things to do. Coming from a game like EQ2 where my quest journal was always full of quests, to STO where you do one mission at a time and if you finish it too soon the next step in the chain is way above your level has been frustrating for me but I am hoping that I'm just missing something.

Get ready for win my friend as you have yet to be slamed in the face with all sorts of epic win in terms of excellent episode missions. There are some awesome episode missions you will get to. The undine plot, Hirogen, just fill in the gaps between episode missions with some explore, defend, etc; not much of a grind between the next available set of episode missions. When you play Trapped, the mission is very dark and horrific for a Star Trek setting. Without giving any spoilers, when you are in the Hirogen ship it is like being in a Predator ship as you'll see trophy skulls from alien races of all variety adorning the ships interior hull. The undine mystery plot missions are great, eventually you'll even have to defend/assault DS9 but I won't say anymore to avoid spoilers. You have a lot of great content to look forward to. Just do a little grinding between episode missions and you'll be rewarded with epic win. Also if you want a little eye candy stop by DS9 and take a look at the Orion girl behind the Klingon merchant, her name is Ahnya-Maahlia and she doesn't stir your blood I don't know what will
