Is there a reason to have Fleets in this game?
This game is totally soloable from what ive seen
The grouping is iffy at times (like explore missions) where one person gets in but noone else does, or you get into a DSE and the other guy ends up on another server - things like that
Mostly the first one.
I mean the cool new costume choice is neat I guess, and more bank space (though this is bugged if what Ive been reading about the bank thefts lately is true), other than that, it seems really really cosmetic. Esoecially as the "raids" upcoming are all 5 man content lol

Fleets are an easy way to share resources between friends. And just because a game is soloable doesn't mean you can't do it with others. I routinely team-up with the same 3-4 people every day to do missions. Fleets are there to build a sense of community between often-played-with people.

I personally dislike games which require specific classes on a team to achieve an objective. I hate having to have debuffers, tanks, healers, etc. I like that each ship in STO can achieve its goals without aid - it's not like the Enterprise was constantly calling for Escorts and Science Vessels in all those hundreds of episodes between TOS and TNG. Teaming in STO just means you're sharing the experience rather then needing someone to achieve a goal. To me that's great.

so basically a single player game i play with othes only when it gets hard like any other multiplayer game this lacks the feel of an MMO like other games to much damn instancing.

Leveling up in any MMO can be acheived solo (most of the time), but you'd be hard pressed to actually complete any difficult content at end-game without a good guild. You can't solo Raid-I-Sodes, and they require 5 living people to enter.

The Instance/Open World argument is subjective. For each person who likes Open World missions there's going to be someone else who likes Instanced missions. All anyone can do is play the types of games which fit their subjective needs.

They already have them? Or arent they (maybe) being put in in the 45 day patch?

    Its called TEAMWORK

Dont worry, just stay away from WoW for awhile and the effects of "elitist soloism" will go away.... eventually.

Theres also the idea this game is REALLY EASY
I have YET to see a mission that was a "group" mission where to finish it required others to work together to achieve that common goal.
This negates the need for your "teamwork"
and Im sorry, in WoW, you actually NEEDED groups. I dunno how you were soloing raids and instances (it the level of the instance) but I was never that leet.
Dunno where you got the "solo elitsm" thing form, I never said groups were inferior to solo play.
