I bought seven Mark-VIII Chroniton Torpedo Launchers for around 50,000 credits. It will run me that very same amount of money to get one Mark-VI. I'm a second-rank Commander. The fact that I can buy excessive amounts of Captain-level goods that I can't even use for the price of one Commander-level item is just ridiculous.
I did eventually manage to get a Mark-VI Launcher from some good samaritan who was selling it for 5,000 credits, but that's beside the point. Generally, Commander-level items are in the 50,000+ range.
Mark VII is not the best rank you can get at captain so there is far less point in buying them. That is why they are cheap. Mark VIII would be a better comparison.

It's due to demand. The "fat" part of the playerbase is now generally in the Commander ranks, and so there's a lot of demand there, driving prices up. The Captain level prices will be high, too, in a week or so, I would bet.

So, because you lack even basic understanding of a free-market economy and cannot manage to make sufficent credits in a game where currency flows like water, you want the devs to do... ...what, exactly?
Put an artificial cap on prices so that you, personally, can afford them?

...okay.
I never said put a cap on the prices. It was more of an implied "tone down the price, sellers." Think about it. You can still overcharge on something and be reasonable. Any amount of money greater than half the item's value is making more than selling it at a store. I wouldn't mind shelling out 50,000 if it was something rare, but I'm getting a common Commander-level Chroniton Torpedo Launcher for the price of 7 Captain-level common Chroniton Launchers. That's just ridiculous. Selling more items at lower prices will net you more sales than less items at higher prices. It's just common sense.
Yesterday I accidentally bought a 3000$ console realized I couldnt use it cause it was commander level gear. So I put it back on the exchange, for 500 more and it sold in 10 seconds hahah

RoA 101: To sell at less than demand dictates is leaving latinum on the table.
