Is there another way that we will be able to buy the TOS uniforms? (Cause they are the HOTNESS.) I pre ordered with the wrong people (Game Stop).
I was hoping (preferably sooner THAN later), that you would be offering the TOS uniforms in the C-Store. I also would be game for buying ANOTHER copy of STO just to get the TOS uniforms.
Cryptic has stated that they will eventually allow Preorder items to be sold in the C-Store, but first the people who actually Preorded them need to get time to enjoy their choices. I won't look for them to be added before the 3-6 month range.

That is a reasonable time. i wish i could trade my crappy enterprise ship. It would be cool if I could use the skin on a T5 ship. Otherwise, it is useless after 10 levels of play.

They said they might consider it, but far into the future. That is a far cry from a definite statement.

Nykronus Out.
Cryptic has chosen to make themselves Ferengi ... nothing is more sacred that the almighty Dollar ... there is nothing they won't sell you, nothing that won't eventually make it into the C-Store if enough people keep QQ'ing about it, no lengths they won't take to try to get you to spend $10 or $20 a month over your subscription.
I believe fact. When the devs definitively say that preorder items will be in the C-Store, I'll believe it, and I'll be just as happy as the day before.
I believe fact. When the devs definitively say that preorder items will be in the C-Store, I'll believe it, and I'll be just as happy as the day before.
And, as I said above, if that makes you happy then good for you.
The TOS uniforms are NOT a preorder item. They are included in the Digital Deluxe Edition, and you can still buy those. So, if you're willing to spend another 60$ on one, you can apply that key to your account and enjoy the skirts
Think you should do the same, before stating Jake's comments that they may in the future as a definant promise. It may well led to horrible disappointment if they decide not to, or if they don't decide to do so in a manner in your timely preference.
Champions, for instance, still has yet to make the Amazon preorder costume pieces available from the c-store.
More on topic, the TOS uniforms came from the Digital Deluxe Edition, not specifically a pre-order perk, you may still be able to purchase a copy of the DDE if it is that important to you. Yes it's expensive, but it does also include 30 days of subscription time [from what I understand, I am not positive], so that lessens the bite a little bit.
And, as I said above, if that makes you happy then good for you.
I don't think you're understanding my meaning here.
I already have the uniform options and all the pre-order stuff I wanted. I'm happy right now. That said, I also don't mind if Cryptic added the stuff to the C-Store, but I can see where other people might. Basically, I'm fine either way.
My original reply wasn't meant to convey pleasure/displeasure, it was meant to dispel rumor and bring out facts. The fact is Cryptic has alluded at the possibility of selling preorder bonuses and extra uniforms in the C-Store, but they haven't actually come out and said it's definitely going to happen. Right now, the only confirmed C-Store stuff are the 2 playable races (Fed Klingon and Fed Ferengi), and we only know those are confirmed because they are actually in the C-Store. There was no announcement concerning them, they were just added silently.
I expect if Cryptic were to add preorder items to the C-Store, it would be preceeded by an announcement, in order to minimize the uproar from all the disgruntled preorder players.
I don't think you're understanding my meaning here.
I don't think you're understanding my meaning here. I don't care that your opinion is different then mine as to what Cryptic will do in the future. If your opinion makes you happy then so be it. The fact that they added an "out" in STO to be able to sell these items at a later date is more then enough basis for me to believe they will be added at some point in the future. My opinion, based on 5 years of CoH, a CO LTS, and a STO LTS, makes that fact enough for me. If not for you, well whatever makes you happy.
I asked this very question a few months ago with one of the DEVS, here is what he said:
To:Jackalope
From:Commodore_Rook
Subject: TOS uniforms
Hi there! I will ask you the same question I asked another Dev, but was ignored.
With the TOS uniforms coming in the DDE, will that be the ONLY way to get them? I can understand the TOS Constitution being only available as a pre-order perk, but am wondering if the TOS uniforms will be available at some point in the game via MT or ONLY in the DDE? This will help me decide which version to buy. Thanks!
Commodore Rook.
It's possible, but the uniforms won't be available immediately.

'Cryptic has said that they will eventually', not that 'Cryptic said they may eventually sell'. There is a difference there . No problem with your opinion that will eventually, but Cryptic did not say that they would, just that they may.
Funnily enough, with City of Villains, Cryptic did say that the preorder helmets would be available through other means after launch (Alexa, referencing the patron system). Yet they were not, and really only added as 51 month veteran rewards.

Again, I'm not disputing the "facts." I'm simply saying that, based on Cryptic's current record of MTs, only a fool would not expect to see Connies, Mirror Universe costumes, and other Preorder items eventually put into the C-Store; especially based on the fact that they gave themselves an out by saying they may offer them at a later date in their FAQ. That's something they didn't do for CO. Only time will tell, but I do expect to see most of the items make it into the C-store within a year. YMMV.

Now you aren't, but your original post was stating it as a fact that they would be released, and that was being corrected.
That said, I do have to question your perception with the record of MTs. Where is the Insectoid Foil, Art Deco armor pieces, and High Roller Pack available on the c-store?

As I said above, CO never left an out for those items in its FAQ as STO did, but if you check my posts on the CO forum from several months ago I said then, and I'll say now, that I expect to see those items added to the game within the first year - we're at 5 months now.

As someone has already said, they will probably be added eventually. But in the mean time, here is something you can do:

Link? This would go against the model they have used for CO. I want to read that statement. There is this little phrase, "exclusive offer" that accompanied all the preorder and collectors editions. That phrase is legally binding.

It's from the Preorder FAQ:
Q: Will the exclusives be offered as a microtransaction?
A: Not at launch, but somewhere down the road we may offer to let people purchases these if they did not pre-order.

Actually, as long as the item WAS exclusive when the sale was MADE, thats all thats legally required. Unless its specifically stated that it would always be exclusive, then Cryptic can do whatever they want.

"May" is not "will". The fun thing is the number of trekkies here who are VERY possessive of this kind of thing. I would bet some of them would file a class action lawsuit if such a thing was done. We will see.

We've already gone through the whole idea of what "may" and "will" means. As far as your lawsuit, good luck with that.

Oh please, the kind of people who play MMOs behave the same way about the "exclusive" items across the board; its not just ST fans. And as stated above, Cryptic legally do whatever they want. The only question is will it make more money than the amount they may lose from disgruntled people. In all honestly, the answer is probably yes, because even though some people may complain about it, most of them wont actually cancel.

Exclusive has one meaning in these terms. That meaning is well beyond the point and moment of sale.
Don't get me wrong, I largely don't care. What I care about is misleading people who want something they may not be able to get. Propping up hope only leads to disillusionment. I say don't count on this in any way. That way, if they do become available, happiness will flourish across the land and all the unicorns and rainbows will cavort and prance together!

Good fix but for true TOS hawtness you need the cutoff bottoms for that retro touch.
Sooo glad that Cryptic finally fixed the BO bug for the TOS uniforms - now give us the miniskirts and I'll be in 60's heaven.
EDIT - seems we got the miniskirts now !!!
