An MMO at launch having problems? Who woulda thunk it? ;)

Remember, nearly all mmo's are lackign polish, content and have pretty bad problems for the first month or two at launch. Even the might EoE was terrible for aroudn 3 months at launch. They also had zero endgame until 1.6 when they brought in Dire Maul and considered that endgame.

TBH even though STO undoubtably has it's fair share of problems, other MMO's have had worse, and still have worse now, even 5+ years after they launch.

Take those reviews, compare them to every other release of a major mmo, and youll see very little difference if any. Unless you head to mmorpg where theyre known for taking payments in return for good reviews.

However, you are agreeing that the reviews for the game in its current form are acurate. Hopefully they will re-review in 6 - 12 months or after the next big content release/expansion. After that I'd be more interested in comparing the two.

The 1Up review is spot on. Cudos to them for being honest.

The 1Up review is pretty good, even if I disagree about the ground aspect of the game. I know many dislike it but I really like it. Anyway, yes, space combat is a blast and yes, exploration needs work.

There is only one opinion (that is what a review is) that matters to me about STO, and that is mine.

I am happy with the game and can see the potential it has thanks in part to playing both WoW and Eve since launch.

Like it or not, reviews have a huge impact on the market. The point in reading the reviews is not to decide wether you like the game or not (hell, I play it since closed beta, I know if I like it or not now !) but to see how the game is doing. Someone who doesn't care about STO can ignore the reviews altogether, but someone who is invested in the game may want to know if the game is successful or not.

Yes, the 1UP is pretty spot on, althogh I think the ground combat is still salvageable.

lol in 1 up vid dose she say in eve you dont even control your ship just the economy. ouch geeks you better hide her somplace. and they should write reviews i think any thing from people that look like they live in thier parents basement, and eat hot pockes well we wont go thier.

As for STO it needs alot of work but thier is a good base for some very good content to be added. It seem that they rushed the game to get it out leaving alot of space to build in content. I just hope somone at the home office has the sence to see they have some very big shoes to fill when you make a game based on a tv show that turned into almost a religion. six months we will see till then ill just refine my builds and have fun
