Wouldn't your issue fall under this? I too was confused for a bit and thought what you were referring to was legal, though after talking and investigating, I'm not so sure. Lawsuits aren't easy by the way. Very expensive.

If you want to ask for clarification (or appeal) against an infraction then sending a pm to one of the mods is probably the best way, discussing forum penalties openly on the forums is against the forums policy

    Hi,

I have received something thats called an 'infraction' and it never expires it seems. Well, I like to complain about this moderation but can't find any info where and how I do that so the forums it is.

It has something to do with those Taco's shuttltes. Everybody wants a key it seems and I found a *LEGAL* website selling *LEGAL* keys for that shuttle. So I thought, let me be helpfull and link that url in the topic about those keys. What does a cryptic mod do? Removing the post and gives me a never expiring 'infraction'.

I am really mad about it. I aint no 12 year old kid trying to defy STO's authority. I am a 31 years old dad trying to help out!! Seems that a never expiring 'infraction' is only used for the hardest moderation just below banning..

So I ask Cryptic 2 things, remove the 'infraction' and tell me where I can complain about moderating in the future.

    Tnx in advance,

    Henk

ps. If Cryptic thinks they are selling the key illigal, sue that company and tell us that selling the key from that site is illigal.

    The rules say no advertising:

"Anyone reposting information or advertising web sites that sell these codes will be handed this 10 point infraction. "

Well... I am only trying to be helpfull.. I mean, it aint illigal to post links to sites selling gametime and/or STO why would these codes are? I mean, its a normal webshop selling normal things. I was only trying to help, nothing more nothing less.. at least give an infraction that expires.

Apparently part of the .. *ahem*.. third party vendor's intent is to confuse people into advertising for them. They didn't get the codes from Cryptic, and as such they fall under the whole "Buying from a third party" thing.

This promotion was done for and by Del Taco to help advertise for Del Taco, not other companies.

technically, i dont know if that website is "Legal" the only way you can get those codes is by getting them from del taco... which means someones likely getting them at like 1-2 bucks and charging more for them.... its only "legal" when the company who has the codes sells them, so unless that del taco shuttle selling place is run by deltaco its not legal since your getting it from a third party who wants to profit off something that costs like 50 cents when you upgrade a meal...

Well seeing so those keys where given away for FREE and it seems someone is profiting for selling them, I would say that is against the rules utterly and completely.

I would say that now you have brought it back up and complained so openly over moderation decisions that you will now receive another infraction. OFC I am not a mod but I would expect the Ban stick to be hovering over your head around about now.

For all the mods know or we know, You could actually be the person selling those FREE codes and attempting to promote the website. This is a Strategy I tend to see a lot these days with gold sellers.

Also If I am not mistaken. Demanding mods do something is also a insta-Infraction.

Regards Cryptic suing the website. LOL! You should use ya grey matter! These Keys are FREE and they are selling them! Its obvious that linking such a site is against the forum rules.

Can we not use the term "legal" and "illegal"?

I can't find it anymore on the webshop, but they explained why they can sell the codes legall.. something about they being linked to the Taco dudes through a bigger company owning Taco and other companies.

They are just pulling a fast one. They will try anything to get you to part with your cash.

I would Email Del Taco and ask if they are linked to the site and maybe you could have a case.

anyone can say something, the question is, can they prove it? you shouldnt trust something like that just becasue they say they are owned by someone that may or may not exist.

Again, judging from the stuff I've read, it's not so legitimate. Unless there's an "OK" by Cryptic, it's best not to post about them.

I am sure if it was Legit then Cryptic would have let us know about it.

It's not helping out, it's benefiting someone selling free codes for profit which goes back to advertising that stuff not being allowed and yeah if something is Cryptic endorsed they would announce it somewhere.

Well its only an Infraction and I am sure it wont affect you posting or using the game. Perhaps you should just take it on the chin and let it go. I expect if this post keeps getting bumped then the mods may decide to hand you another for questioning there decisions.

Maybe best to just let the post die and live with it.

I know, but it feels wrong.. I only wanted to help out :(

When it's a common problem, it's not too much of a wonder why the mods are harsh on the matter.

There is a simple saying in law. "Ignorance is no excuse." Wether you knew what you were doing was wrong or not is irrelevant, it was wrong and you have been punished for it As others have said it,s best to shut up and forget about it because in every forum I,ve ever been on posting about a rule infraction can lead to not only a ban from the forum but in some cases a ban rom the game as well.
