when they finish a patch they will use maintenance time to apply it. so if they finish a patch on thursday night, do you want to wait a week for them to apply it?
I don't begrudge planned maintenance or patches. Crashes happen, hardware fails, that kind of stuff is to be expected.
But I truly don't understand the logic in deciding to have planned maintenance on a Friday night, Saturday morning.
This is the kind of thing that should be scheduled late at night on a weekday.
I'm not crying about it, just commenting on the choice of timing (even aside from the crash).
It is usually scheduled at the slackest time they can find, in the nearest block of time they can arrange. Note, that since they are GMT-8, it would be better for them to post updates 8a PST to 5p PST, but they instead religiously choose night side lower traffic.
I doubt the Saturday maintenance will be happening once the game gets it's sea-legs. They have customers and execs breathing down their necks to fix many issues.
Plus, people would scream bloody murder (and already do) if they didn't fix this stuff in a timely manner. How many threads were there about the missing skirts alone?

They won't. Cryptic said (forgot where) that they are trying to move to a regular Thursday night (friday morning) patch schedule, much like say WoW is every Tuesday morning. But if something major gets fixed, they might push it early, sound reasonable to me. And once all the big stuff is patched, there won't be any major fixes to do on Saturday, thus eliminating Saturday morning downtimes all together.
Cryptic had a choice, they can take the server down on a friday night and have a days worth of QQ or they could wait til next week and have a weeks worth. I think they made the right choice.

in case you dont know, its not the same time all over the world. whats good for one is bad for another, there isnt a "good" time to do it they just have to do it.
the ONLY way cryptic can combat "bad times" is to have servers for each area of the world and take them down at various times of the day to put the same patch on them.... more work for them, but more convenient for the users......
I would have no problem with them bringing it down for some maintenance but i do have a problem with it being brought down on a friday night for a patch, patchs ALWAYS lead to more downtime, they fix one thing and break 3 more, dont start that cycle on a weekend.

Make things a bit more balanced I think them there Euro's have been getting a wee bit more of the shaft than us with the *cough* maintenance *cough*.
Not that getting more of the shaft is always a bad thing....
