agree. plus maintenance or shut downs probably shouldn't happen during peak hours, unless it is an emergency. Emergency like real-life Targs were spawning from STO servers and attacking Cryptic staff.
um you do realize you posted this after the servers are up
um you do realize that there was a planned downtime during the weekend? which would of course be the original topic ... but why should you pay attention to that when misdirection and snarkyness is more cool!
I think you guys and gals need to lighten up on Cryptic. They've got a lot going for them. And this maintenance thing isn't much of a big deal to have to put up with.
Consider how small a game developer they are. They have less staff, less resources, and less time being around when compared to some of the mega-giant MMO industry titans. And yet, even with these obstacles this smaller, leaner team of crack coding commandos puts out quality product that competes with the giants; sustains amazing customer service 24/7; and gives out amazing quality assurance time and time again.
My point? Because Cryptic is a tad smaller than other MMO companies, they tend to sometimes have staffing issues on hours that don't fit a standard 9 to 5 Pacific Time Zone workday. So weekends end up being a slower, less staffed time.
But they make up for it in quality of product and quality of service.
You'll note how much more effective your playtime can be if instead of playing when the company is at its ebb, you schedule your playtimes more to their time and their abilities. Try playing on weekdays in the afternoons. It's awesome!

You realize this is a globally marketed game, and it's always prime time somewhere.. right?

Sorry, but you had me right to the point where you referred to their customer service as amazing.
Cryptic has a lot going for it. It also has a lot of problems. Lets not try to sugar coat those problems by sweeping them under the rug. Call a spade a spade. They have problems and they are trying to overcome them. No one at Cryptic wants this game to fail and no one on this forum *should* want it to fail either.
OP has a valid point that I completely agree with. I've never understood why any company would choose to have scheduled downtime during a high-traffic period. That leads to only two conclusions -- either it wasn't scheduled or weekends aren't their high-traffic period.
Yeah, I'm not to partial to "their" problems. I paid for a game and then a subscription. If they are not up to the task on weekends, should I take a day off to play too?
Not being sharp or hypercritical, just want what I pay for.
I doubt they will give out 'credits' for the time I dont get to play.

Personally, I don't care if the server is down for an hour at the weekends. Its hardly game breaking for me personally. So long as that downtime improves the game or performance of the servers, I'm happy.
Any time they choose for downtime has the chance to **** someone off. We're all in the same situation. No one is being picked it, thats just life.

yes, I'm sure they are doing as much as they can with the tools available. of note is the fact that the scheduled downtime this weekend was much less than last weekend.
