When the server crashes so close to Maintenance, please do the Maintenance then.

This is not a gripe, just a suggestion.

Since, when server crashes, it usually takes an hour or two to get it back up, I feel you should just go ahead and do the scheduled Maintenance then so it doesn't come up then get brought down right away again an hour later.

Thank you for your time.

I was wondering if anyone else got disconnected. Was still in the tutorial but the experience was enjoyable so the server coming down isn't bothering as much as I figured it would.

    It does matter.

Is a crash? Or is it an excuse for a really long patch/upgrade cycle? Blizzard was FAMOUS for doing this..

Whoops! It crashed.. Welllll, that 4 hour long downtime is now 12 hours.. Thanks for those monthly payments!

I can echo on that. Why not just get the patch/updates out of the way since everyone's off as is?

I'd MUCH rather have acknowledgement of an issue than have them pull it down for even longer. While your idea is sensible, it's also hedging on the possibility that the servers are down for hours. They're typically not. This has been a fairly smooth launch. ESPECIALLY considering the load the servers must be under. I mean... million+ on one Server/Cluster? WTG Cryptic!

I don't think it was a crash, they don't know how clocks work, then again they need to take their helmets off to see the clock.

All depends on whos in the building I suppose, if your patch team isn't there no point holding the servers down until they get in. But if the patch team is there, I agree might as well get it over with.

I did notice that they took the time to upload patches during unexpected server crashes in the beta. I'm sure they throw in what upgrade work they can while trying to get the servers back up and running.

This is an idea I can get behind. I will be very surprised if they don't roll out the patch now.

You're absolutely right. If maintenance is scheduled for 6am and the server crashes at 12am, they should do the maintenance then! The devs should have an alarm that wakes them up, angers their spouse, and makes the baby cry. Then the devs rush off to the office and do the maintenance. Why? So you can have fewer interruptions in your gameplay.

We understand that downtime sucks which is why we're all scrambling right this minute to push the release out NOW instead of having another downtime later tonight. The release notes have been posted in the Release Notes folder for those interested in what we're rolling out.

I did notice they changed the Maint. time to Feb 13, 10am PST to 12am PST, when it had been 3am PST to 5am PST.

I'm not sure what to make of this. Sarcasm or sincerity? Seriously though, given what time it is over in PST, they're probably in the office anyway. This strengthens that by them going ahead and doing what I suggested anyway. Not to say they already didn't think of it prior. Just saying....

Nothing like capitalizing and having an inopportune downtime turn into something productive.

Nice call, guys. Keep it up.
