Captain 2 and I still don't have all my Pre-order bonuses

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
That's right I've hit Capt. 2 and I am still yet to get my 500 skill points from the Walmart pre-order bonus. I have a ticket in with Cryptic (7 days old I believe). A ticket in with Walmart (when Cryptic starting blaming them) and not a word back from either of them. I've tried to be polite, I've tried to be patient, I've posted in all the relevant threads. I've seen others get their bonus, but I'm still here waiting and I am getting aggravated.

I got my special items through the c-store. I'd imagine that it's the same with the points?

Yes, for those who are lucky enough to get them. Some got a new code from Walmart, others have had Cryptic fix it for them. Then there are those that for whatever reason both parties are refusing to help.

I wonder how many of us there are that still do not have out 500 Skill points that we paid for.

You'll be able to level up one Captain skill and one Lieutenant skill once you get them...not such a meaningful reward as it would have been when you first started eh?

I hope you realize it's just 500 skill points for when you start, not 500 on top of cap, giving you 500 more.

At this point the meaning will come from feeling like Cryptic actually cares about me as a customer...

Yes I know this, but it is the principle of the matter, I paid for this bonus, I should get it.

No, no you did not in fact. The 500 points are a free perk from buying from Wal-Mart. You are not entitled to free stuff you get when buying, because you bought it. If I went and bought something that advertised free shirts and they told me they ran out, I would shrug and say "ok" cause I wasn't going to buy just for the free shirt. Saying you payed for the points is stupid.

No I did pay for it. It is "included" in the price and there was no "limited supply". I'm sorry, but yes I paid for this. I've given Cryptic a great deal of money as a Lifetime suber to both CO and STO, as well as other purchases to these games. If something I purchase from them (or through an intermediary) comes advertised with other items. I expect to get them. Otherwise I would not have purchased through Walmart, ffs the front page still advertises the Walmart deal, yet me and others have not gotten what is currently being sold and advertised.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but the price of 500 points was not "included" in the cost of the game. The cost of the game was the cost of the game and the perk from purchasing at Wal-Mart was nothing more then a free gift, and that was 500 points. Get over it. Just like the perk of purchasing a Lifetime sub was the Borg, it didn't cost anything, in fact if you want to get technical, you could say it cost negative dollars, since getting it actually LOWERED the price of the lifetime sub. Other people who don't get the borg main have to pay regular price, a gift that cost negative money, damn thats pretty sweet.

Have you ever eaten at a restaurant that advertises "gratuity included in the price" this doesn't mean that the gratuity is free, it means that it is built into the price of the product. Cryptic built all of the pre-order perks into the price of the product, because those perks were not free for them to make. And they wisely split the perks up to different vendors because they knew they could make more money that way, but they did not do it for free. Notice you have to have a code to redeem these perks... what is that - a proof of purchase, so yes we all purchased our perks.

Now if this were launch day and I was complaining that would be one thing, but we are 10 days past launch (two weeks since head start). And yet something that was suppose to be in game on launch day(since we purchased it) is not there and there has been no communication with people like me who have not received their items.

You purchased your game, and the perk came with it. Your asserting that the price of the perk was included, yet provide no proof of this, thus you have no case. Before you try the stupidest retort ever, let me remind you that its YOU who are trying to prove your case. Who shoulders the burden of proof?

Dude the game still cost 49.99 regardless. And cost to make pixels.... HAHAHAHAHAHA... yea, they're gunna charge a extra amount for pixels, there is a reason why they are pre order perks.

If it was not included in the price then why do we need codes to prove we purchased it? If it were just a case of having to prove you purchased the game then each code would not unlock different bonuses it would unlock them all. I can only take you to the water you have to drink it for yourself.

All games build things like this into their price. It is not the "making the pixels" that cost them, they have to pay artists to do art work for the costumes, they have to pay coders to code in other perks, and they have to pay Customer Service to deal with people like me who did not get their items. There is a cost to these items. It was built in to the cost of the game.

Sorry, I've been dragging you to water, your the one kicking and screaming. So your assertion is that because we have to provide proof of purchase, thus the perk is included in the price. That statement alone makes me want to vomit. As for why different bonuses are unlocked, its because each purchase came with free perks depending on where you bought the game. Like I have been saying. How do they know which free perk to give you? By your code, duh.

If I were you, I wouldn't be so concerned about 500 points being purchased, I would go about saying how dumb it is that someone like me gets a Borg BO, that lasts well after Admiral, and your puny little 500 points is nearly worthless at end game. Oh, and since we both paid the same price, that would mean your puny points that mean nothing cost the same as my BO that I'll still have. Thus, I got more for my money then you. TAKE THAT!

Your logic is circular. If the code is proof of purchase from vendor X then that means that we need to purchase from vendor X to get the code. Thus the code is included in the price of the purchase and since the code unlocks the bonus the code is in essence the bonus.

I really don't care what pre-order bonus you got or how "worthless" you deem the bonus I choose. The value of any object can be different for each person, even after a monetary value has been set. What I care about is that we both get our bonuses in a timely manner. If you had not gotten your Borg BO by now I'd be complaining on your behalf.

Sentence one: Yes, that is what I am saying

Sentence two: Wait huh? Since when does any video games proof of purchase cost money? Your making a leap of logic there. The code costs nothing, its like coupons you get with receipts at markets. They cost nothing. So if the code costs nothing, then the bonus costs nothing. Or are you also saying that you paid for the advertisements for new games also included in video game boxes? Or maybe that free trial code to give your friend, ya that costs money you paid the company too. The little survey tab that some console games have in their boxes, ya the price of that was included too. Geez, so many hidden costs, I had no IDEA:eek:

EDIT: Actually, assertion: The proof of purchase does indeed cost you something, the total cost of the game itself, since the proof is basically the only thing you need. Thus you are correct, it does cost you money, but no more or no less then everyone else's, regardless of perk because the perk itself is free.

Why are you guys arguing with him about this? The deal was that he'd get those points if he bought the game through Wal-Mart. He hasn't received those points. The deal's been broken. Therefore Varrangian and others in his position have a right to complain if Cryptic doesn't take action and/or provide an acceptable explanation.
