There's an option on the cancel page if you want to forfeit the remainder of your time or continue to play it out, or so I've heard.

WoW your an utter tool!!!!! Complete fanboy defender off all things STO!!!!!

The OP is right on! He is entitled to play out the days he payed for and sneaking in some option to forfeit you remaining days without getting a monitary reimbursement is nothing more the dishonorable and criminal and I think cryptic is walking a very fine line that SHOULD lead them to a MAJOR lawsuit!

Things like this dont take a rocket scientist to figure out its sneaky underhanded business practice!

There should of been two options, one that says cancel at the end of such and such date or play out the remainder of my time, and one that says cancel instantly.

I am not for sure if it is the same here, but that is the system in place with CO as far as canceling.

The auto-forfieture of time is a bit non-standard. I'm a bit surprised to hear of this.

Sorry to see more community leave in droves.

This is sad for a supposed mmorpg, which is actually a MMOFPS, since the missions I have to repeatedly do at nausea needs fed players to participate. After waiting 10 minutes for 2 cracked planets, and one of which no feds appeared, you can tell that the community is thinning drastically.

the OP Is a troll, hes posted a few of these threads just going off about everything

    if your givern 2 options
    A) play out your time
    B) cancel all remaining time too

what would you take? also option B is there for people trying to kick habits, i personaly agree with that option being available to those who dont wanna chance logging back in if they are trying to kicn an MMO habit

also, this fanboy hasnt even subscribed yet, so yeah, fanboy, sure, whatever you say

    Quick question:

If you plan on cancelling, why would you want to continue to play?

Thats all fine and dandy except for the fact that it does indeed default to giving up the rest of your payed time. For someone (like me) who is used to the standard MMO sub cancellation in which all your days are preserved no matter what, I can see a possibility of scrolling through the page too fast and not seeing that you are about to lose your remaining playing time.

It should default to keeping your days. Luckily for me though, I did take my time and I kept my remaining play time.

For me, its because this game is still fun. It just is not worth $15 a month in its current state.

my suggestion would be to get a hold of billing and just say, hey I didn't mean to cancel or forfeit my time that was still on my account. I am sure they would probably fix it for you with no problem

UO, DAoC, EQ, WWIIonline, WarHammer, WoW, LoTRO, SWG, Conan, etc

I have canceled my subscriptions early in every single one of these games and never was I ever given an option to trick me out of my rightful remaining game time! And to think its anything other then a lowly devious trick and to defend there billing procedure is crazy!

I agree. If somebody cancels, that means they just want to disable the credit card from being charged again for rebills. They already paid for the remaining days of their 30days. They should be able to play the rest of their time out. Send ingame items to their friends. Give other people their stuff etc.

Fact that he got locked out after cancelling and having already paid for the rest of the time is BAD. So BAD that it DOES warrent him a charge back request with his credit card company.

ROFL get a hold of billing?!? How do you suggest to do this maybe by putting in a ticket! Like the 10,000 other billing tickets that havent been answered for over 2 weeks???

Or the Call the billing department and wait around on hold for the 3-5 hours it takes to get through???

To give out all your items and junk to your friends who are sticking around. To clean up your TRIBBLE from AH or Mailbox.

To play out the rest of your time because you don't want your card to be charged the rebill.

Let's see I had a ticket in on the 1st and 2nd. I finally got my tickets handled today. 10 days later. GG!

    Poor customer service.

Did you pay for a month? Aren't we still in free time? You didn't even say if your parents credit card got a rebate for the time (takes a couple of days to show up).

Free time is not "paid time". You try'd the product and said no. You cancel a credit card, you don't get the rest of the month to charge things.

Bring the lawsuit, but remember if you lose you can't cancel and not have to pay. You drove the car back to the lot and said "it sucks", are they supposed to say "well it was for a month, keep it till then"? You said no, why should they keep keep you on? Think for a moment, would you run a business like that? It's kinda of like being a bookstore, (you know what those are right?). You bought a SAT study guide, you get two weeks to return it. You come back with it dog eared and answers filled out, and say "it didn't help, I want to return it".

You are not entitled to anything, period. The moment you realize this, the better your adult life will get.

Use fanboi or even the correct term "fanboy" all you want, it's a slippery slope you can't recover from.:)

This ISNT average MMO fare though... Ive never had an MMO do this before... though I have a lifetime so I never need to quit lol

You quit in WoW you dont lose yer sub till the next billing date. Was the same way with Fallen Earth and SWG when I left those.

No other MMORPG I've played in the past 5-10 years terminates your remaining gametime if you cancel subscription. If this one does, Cryptic's stooped even lower than I thought they could possibly go. That's going from being a **** developer, to being **** human beings. Congrats.

Oh, and those of you who defend them ripping people off in all your fanboy-ism, are also **** human beings in dire need of extermination. That'll be all.

Wrong your credit card is charged for a 30 day subscription this entitles you to the full 30 days....

This arguement is wordy and makes little to NO sense! The OP payed for a 30 day subscription and is entitled to 30 days its not a hard concept to understand!
You are not entitled to anything, period. The moment you realize this, the better your adult life will get.

Are you an adult? Any logical adult understands if you pay for a subscription you are entitled to the subscription no matter matter when you cancel it.....
Use fanboi or even the correct term "fanboy" all you want, it's a slippery slope you can't recover from.

Evidently you are atleast aware of who you are!

Legally, anything that comes "free" WITH a purchase is considered payed for. Kinda like, if you buy a loaf of bread, you get a free car. Thats a great deal right? Not until you figure out the loaf of bread costs $50,000.

No one said anything about a lawsuit. I am guessing you have never heard of a charge-back. A credit card company has the right to charge a company for falsely advertised or faulty products payed with their credit card even if the product has been shipped/used.

It happens all the time and there is very little legal process involved. You get your money back, Cryptic pays a small fee. No one goes to court. Problem solved.

Why even put in a choice to make about your legally entitled subscription time???? Unless your trying to trick those that dont read out of there legally entitled game time! Kinda like using a Rebate to make a product more appealing as a large percentage of those that purchase the product wont send in the rebate! Difference here is no otthe MMO company attempts to trick there clientel in this fashion! And to defend this type of business practice makes ZERO sense!

i'm going to have to agree with those that say he should have read, if the option is there it's his fault, you should always pay attention when you dealing with things that involve billing or canceling a bill.
