Increase the Difficulty

This game is much too easy, both ground and space can be one just by spamming abilities with no concern of your own safety.

Its not a lack of a death penalty that I'm upset about, its a lack of any real challenge when doing this. The only way I can get a challenge is when the mobs are 3+ levels higher than me.

Can we please scale this game to be a bit harder? Increase the enemy damage output to make players have a bit more strategic approach to pulling a mob rather than charging in and spamming 1-5 until they all die.

This is #1 for me. Everything in the game can wait as far as I am concerned.

    I think that they made it easy for now to get us immersed in the game. If the game was difficult the way we want, there wouldn't be a lot of people playing. I have a feeling that the difficulty will be increased when the first big patch (not a bug fix one) gets implemented. By then, we should know our ships and abilities, and we will just have to change our strategies.

    But I'm a captain. I've got alot of ship abilities. There isn't any challenge in any space missions if I put in enough effort to pay attention. And for the ground? You can practically AFK the whole thing and just let your BO's do the fighting because regular mob damage is just silly.

    Regular ground mobs NEED more damage output. I'm not saying that they need to be a horde of Sword Masters or Klingon Officers.. but atleast something close. Something that will actually want to make me hide behind a corner. Something is wrong when I can complete an entire mission simply by using the knockdown.

    Enemy health is fine, some shields are a pain enough to get through as it is.. but there isn't much of a threat when they are pretty much just turtles with a hard shell.

    There also needs to be enemy NPC roles..

    The mobs need healers, there is nothing to CC. We have CC abilities, but its more of a novelty than anything right now, entirely useless.

    Actually, they have that in game. I was on an away mission when I killed a grunt, next thing I know he gets up and starts shooting me. I was all:WTF???
    Then I killed another grunt and I saw an npc run over and rez him. I highlighted that NPC and it was a medic. I then got my whole away team to focus on the medic and kill him.

    aye. You get into the later tiers, they will heal/revive each other, use turrets, and CC you and your team constantly.

    Sorta the same for space. It's somewhat of a large jump as well, as out of nowhere they will start using viral matrix and/or tractor beam, and for the first time since you started you'll see your shield facings get slammed to almost nothing and not able to do much about it, less you're outfitted for. At the moment though I'm getting spammed on with whatever ability it is that puts all your weapons/abilities on cooldown constantly.

    I never played an mmo I couldn't beat by spamming 1-5 :|

    Strategic spamming you mean?

    It doesn't matter what order you hit the buttons in this game.

    Not even removing my armor or shields is making this game any harder. And while we are on it.. why do I have 2 health bars anyway? Shields are way too OP imo, we should make them only temporarly buffs or something that have a cooldown.

    I don't agree, it is almost saying: Let's take away weapon mitigation and allow us and the NPC's to one shot one kill like they do in the movies and tv shows.

    If you feel that the shields are OP, then do your away missions solo and leave the crew to deal with the ship.

    lol increase it? Hell I just got hit by an enemy -5 from my level at 20k damage from a single photon not even a critical hit LOL yeah increase it so they can hit me for 40k of damage...

    How you play determines how difficult the game is for you.

    If you feel that it is too easy, start challenging yourself. Use less powers. Try to take on 2 or 3 groups at a time. In other words, until they do something about it, YOU should do something about it.

    Or just keep on playing like you've been playing and keep on complaining and worrying about it.

    The choice is yours.

    Space isn't as bad as ground combat.. but ground combat is just simply.. Horrible...

    I'm a science officer captain 3... I've got 591 HP and a shield that has 300 hp. Thats about 900 HP there.. cause hardly any NPC's ever melee. The enemy attacks will only be like.. 30 damage per hit, while my DPS is atleast 4x as much as theirs 1v1. Its just.. Ugh.. waaaay to easy.

    I'm going to stop using BO's on ground missions.

    So pretty much, what your saying is, 'Some people suck at the game at the lvl of a 12 year old with crab hands, so I have to cater to them and play the game naked'

    Thats stupid.

    I shouldn't tone down my abilities just to make it more difficult. Most my abilities are useless anyways as a scientist, I can just hit 1 and 2 and win the game. No armor or shields isn't much harder, you just have to Line of sight the enemies on occasion, but it isn't any harder at all.

    Never said you had to do anything.

    What I said was, until they do something about it, and if you feel that your experience is being cheapened, try enriching it and rewarding yourself with more challenging gameplay.

    Try to take down enemies that are +7 to you. Try to use less of your powers. Try to take on multiple enemies.

    Because until they (being Cryptic) do something about it, you (being the player) have to do something about it.

    Or you don't have to do anything at all.

    That's what I said.

    And me also being Science, I find that most of my abilities are pretty darn useful in fights.

    Looks like this horse is going to get beaten down senseless..
    The game is easy unless you are willing to not use your skills, handicap away missions, etc.
    Some people like easy games, some people like a challenge. I prefer the latter.
    Maybe Cryptic made it very easy so every Star Trek fan young and old could play it even if they aren't good at games or computers. If so then Cryptic does still need to come up with something to keep players wanting a challenge interested. After a couple of weeks I'm already starting to lose interest because the missions are very easy, combat is even easier, and there is no penalty for losing at all.

    Even without using abilities the game is still a joke.

    hitting 1 and 2 over and over will get the job done.

    Game is Difficult enough as it is.. should be a sperate settings for those who don't want to get anywhere in the game with more difficulty... Look how they Messed up GW with hard mode.. it can't be done unless you die alot and that is even with all the right skills on the bar.. More content to go through is better then more difficulty.. making it too hard people will not play it.. best to keep the difficulty at current levels..

    Use the same difficulty scaler as CoH used, surely must be in the mechanics somewhere.

    you ppl have obviously not reached commander or captain because once i got to that level it went from easy to if i dont use my abilities and manage my shields correctly i will be dead in a few seconds.

    just wait till u have cruisers that use tractor beam on u and drop your shields and shoot 4 torpedos at your face you will rethink the difficulty.

    so give it time it does get harder because those are 3 levels lower than me and i also though it was to easy beacuse the ships never used to even drop my shields until i started with romulans then you really have to be careful or be dead in seconds

    But I am a captain. You must be doing something wrong. The only way I can get 'easily' killed is if I charge into a group by myself and refuse to heal and see if I can DPS them down on my scientist.

    The game is too easy. But as I said earlier.. space combat isn't as bad.. just alittle more tweaking on the damage.. but ground combat is a joke. Its way to easy.

    Just completed 2x Captain 3-4 level missions and I don't think my health bar dropped 10 hp and my shield never went below 80%. I didn't heal, I only used 1 and 2. I don't get what you people are saying by the game is difficult. It only gets easier as you get higher level.

    Another thing is.. once you start managing your shields in space.. it still just becomes ridiculously easy again. The game just consists of spamming space bar then occasionally hitting the arrow keys. Thats not difficult and if you have a problem managing that.. then well.. I guess I just have to say that some players have a much different opinion of what is challenging than you do.

    i do agree the ground combat is a joke ill run into a group and go grab a drink while my away teams takes care of them.

    i dont die very much in space but i do fly an escort so my shields drop really fast and if a cruiser gets his 4 torpedo barrage off im dead if i dont have shields.

    I really don't understand how you can find this game even remotely difficult. Are you a gamer, or are you a casual that comes in to play once or twice a week to kill time? I mean no disrespect, but this game is mind numbingly easy and overly simplified. Let me try to clarify.

    1) You don't have to use any tactics to win. Seriously. Yes, you might have to actually hit your shield regen once during a fight, but that doesn't mean the fight is "challenging", it just means that the three easy mobs attacking you do just enough DPS to actually force you to use your shield regen button. If you are smart, you've already blown your DPS buffs so that you kill one of the three mobs, so you no longer have to worry at all about their DPS.

    2) Movement is so slow, so ponderous, so frustratingly awful that there's NO strategy. If you are in an Escort, you just DPS them down so fast that they don't stand a chance against you. If you're in a cruiser, you just *yawn* outlast them. Science, well, you just try to do enough DPS to not die, I guess.

    3) I could survive rushing into a mob of 8 ships and survive long enough kite them around. Turn in to them to broad side one of them, then fly away. Even if all 8 ships got energy beams on me AND hammered me with torpedoes... I still didn't die. Let me reexplain this. I had 5 to 10 seconds of heavy enemy weapon fire on my shields, then got hit by 8 torpedoes at once... and didn't die.

    Are you serious? This is "just right" difficulty?

    I got killed by a romulan BS thats 1 npc ships killed me, guess you havnt come across target jamming viral matrix spewing badguys yet.

    I play Science/Science so I could elaborate more on space for science.. I took the role as science to be a support craft, and its still fun to play with friends and stuff, but.. recently its gotten WAAAY to easy.. I can heal them to full health.. I also have decent DPS since I go dual beam arrays. I have to say its fun when I'm solo and I encounter a group of 5. But then again I am a Science vessel who takes things out slower and doesn't have the best survivability. Playing the debuff game right takes some thinking, but I'm not stressing out over what ability to use next.

    With Tyken's Rift III i can drop a vessel and take another down to 50% before the rift wears off. Its just.. Too easy.. I'm not saying I want to die repeatedly. I want strategy to be rewarded with victory. I want more close calls and actually using my healing abilities to keep my friends from dying rather than 'lets see how long I can keep their their shields above 80%'
