Why can't I post my OWN Ventrilo server here?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I noticed my thread got deleted when I put my own ventrilo information here, when I host a public Ventrilo server for my server on WoW and "gpforums.co.nz" (gameplanet) and when I decide to offer it to this community as well, I get my thread deleted and in trouble?

When you log into my Ventrilo server the first thing that comes up is "Dustywoods Public Ventrilo", now where's the respect for me offering my ventrilo out there??

There's so many un-used ventrilo slots on my server, so that's why i'm putting it out here, for them to be used, I like being generous, and I like talking to randoms on my server, there's public Ventrilo Channels even...?

And yeah, i'm aware of Spammers, and don't any of yous tell me not to expect them when ived had this server for nearly two years now, of course I know the deal with hosting public ventrilo servers, and how to deal with spammers, my old method was just putting there I.P's on 4chan, but now heh.. Subnet ban!

It's fine, i'm aware of spammers, and i'm willing to send a message to a admin on these forums with all the proof they need to see it's my ventrilo server.

EDIT: Wait, how many of yous don't know what Ventrilo is?? It'sa voice communication program, saves typingggg.?

If it's against their policy there's probably not much you can do about it. A link to your forums/website and placing the details publicly there would probably be a useable workaround

Yeah, and i'll like to see where it says we can't use a voice communication program while playing Startrek online, or that I can't share it with people

You see, the problem here is trust.

    I'm sure you mean well.

But how do I know your not ****ed at a fleet/guild/person and are posting their vent info?

I'm sure you see the point.

Maybe my first post in this thread is TL;DR, but I have offered many times that i'll provide evidence of the server being mine, receipts, whatever, I have them all.

    doesnt matter
forum rules are forum rules, you cant claim the right to be an exception to the rule, if they open it for you, they open it for everyone to do it

nothing says you cant share it in game though(just not on public channels)

Irrelevant; it's not about you. Cryptic can't police every service people post information for. It's easier and safer to simply disallow all such postings.

And honestly... they're doing you a favor, as well as everyone who might join your server. All it takes is one griefer to ruin it for everyone and posting the information publicly will be an open invitation to them. Even private guild servers tend to have security problems after a while even if they share their info rarely and secure it with a password.

    Right here-

    3. Advertisements are not allowed. Generally speaking, posts made specifically for the promotion of a website, product and/or service are considered advertising. Additionally, posts that unnecessarily send people to a website with which you are in some way affiliated also may be considered advertisements. It does not matter if such website is a commercial website, personal website or non-profit website.

    19. Cryptic Studios has the final say on all aspects of these Forums. If you have a problem, you may make a complaint to Cryptic Studios directly and not publicly on the website. Creating threads or posts that question or reference administrative decisions or potential administrative decisions, such as post removals and thread closures, is not permitted. If you feel that we have made a mistake, please privately contact a Cryptic Studios and we will review the situation.

    6. You are not allowed to post personal, real-life information such as home addresses, home phone numbers belonging to any person, including, without limitation, yourself.

#6 there is the one vents pertain to, and #19 states that it doesnt even matter whjat rule 6 says, if they say no, it means no

I think it mostly closely violates this rule (or the spirit of):
    9. When mentioning, referring and/or linking to other websites, you must ensure that the content of the mention, reference and/or link is appropriate for our community and in line with these Guidelines. If you mention, refer to and/or post a link and such mention, reference and/or posting is automatically censored, it is considered to be inappropriate and you should remove it from your post immediately.

It's not a website but it remains a place where forum-goers might be lead to that Cryptic can't guarantee is appropriate for the community. For a radical example they could join and be bombarded by TRIBBLE propaganda or something.

Technically giving information for non-official IRC channels should be likewise forbidden.

this also applies too, so thats 3 things that it violates at least, and another for just making posts pertaining to the fact your losing your threads(no im not posting that rule)

    Two possibilities:
    Advertising
Posts and/or private messages that, in any manner whether directly or indirectly, contain any advertisement that has not been authorized by Cryptic Studios may be subject to an infraction.

Doesnt say "any advertisement that doesnt bring you money", it says "any advertisement".
    Real-Life Personal Information
Posts and/or private messages that allude to and/or contain language, comments, references, links, symbols, terms and/or imagery about, in any manner whether directly or indirectly, real-life information about other users and/or Cryptic employees, officers and/or directors (and/or any of their family members) may be subject to an infraction.

ANY real life info. Even yours.
    6. You are not allowed to post personal, real-life information such as home addresses, home phone numbers belonging to any person, including, without limitation, yourself.

    oh yeah and finally
    Discussing Disciplinary Actions
Posts and/or private messages that, in any manner whether directly or indirectly, discuss disciplinary actions taken by Cryptic Studios against any user (including the poster) may be subject to an infraction.

technically, finding a way around it is actionable too lol
    Circumventing a Suspension/Ban
The use of another account to circumvent a suspension or ban may be subject to an infraction.

Yeah its a stretch but you get the point lol

I don't see why you can't put in your signature that you have communication for people to use and for people to PM you for details.
